how can i close my forum from public

how can i close my forum from public. .i need to set it so its private so you need to register to be able to view or see any threads / posts / pictures ect . . with out being registered it shouldnt let you see any contents

reason is . . i want a closed forum from the public & i am having lots of spam from newly registered members and i want this to stop

You need a SPAM deterrent. Try both IsBot and Glowhost's SPAM mods.
