How do I change the buttons?

I've only just upgraded to vB4 and I'm experiencing some difficulities. How do I upload my own buttons, for the new thread/reply, give reputation, folders etc.? I know vB is using a new format now, but I don't want to use the default icons (or adjust them in CSS). I want to use my own custom buttons. I've seen it made possible in custom skins, so there must be a simple answer.

I've tried changing the Image Path directory but that hasn't solved it. Is it because the buttons are actually controlled by the <button> coding instead of actual images?

The buttons like you see here 'Quote - M-Quote - Edit' etc are no longer uploadadble the new vb4 uses a system of sprites/icons to show at the bottom of each post.

The 'Post Reply' etc are found in your new stylevar feature in Styles & Templates which you can control colours/background etc.
