RSS Showing Blank Page

I have allowed unregistered/not logged in to view the forums and threads, I've enabled RSS through the admin panel, yet when ever I click the RSS icon on any forum, it gives me a blank page.

I have an RSS icon on the right opposite the forum title on the index page. When I hover it, it gives me this link: external.php?forumids=8, external.php?forumids=7 (took my link out) etc etc.

What else could I do to make this work short of using a plugin?

You are getting a completely white page when trying to view RSS feeds for forums that unregistered users are allowed to view? Here is a page from the manual about troubleshooting blank or 'white' pages: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/blank_pages

Yes, it's completely blank, even with everything enabled and forums viewable by guests. This was happening before plugins were added, there is no 'white space' in my config file etc.

Although, I am using a 3.7 style on 3.8.4, could that cause it?

It could be, you can try creating a default style and see if you still have the same issue. There is a whole list of issues that it could be on that list also besides plugins.
