Used this on vb3 but gave it up as a bad job trying to edit it,lol

BUT

If possible it would be good to be able to edit it easily to have applications for different things

I run an xbox 360 gaming clan site and this would be good for new gamers to apply to join for different games

Any chance ?

Cheers

You may find that this one is easier to edit than the one I released a long time ago for vB 3 :)

reCaptcha does not work with this. Tested by inputing random characters into the reCaptcha box and application was still sent.

I do like the idea though! :)

i want edit questions???

You should be able to edit them in the Languages & Phrases > Phrase Manager.

Or search in phrases for a particular question you want to edit.

Have you done this?
** If you set "Create a Thread" to "Yes", you MUST enter the forum ID for the thread to be created in under "Forum to Create New Threads In" or you will receive an error! **

All seems to work well and the applying members form is sent ok but this error pops up when sending it any ideas where i may be going wrong????
I'm completely oblivious as to what would be causing that error... Possibly another mod? VBSEO maybe? or an .htaccess file?

No, that's not vBSEO. That's vBulletin 4's built in "friendly URL" option.

Mind if I ask what exactly was causing the error? I was searching through all kinds of files trying for figure out what could've been causing that error.

Could this mod also be used for clan recruits to apply or only staff members? I need one to allow for clan/squad/guild recruits to apply with.

It's whatever position you specify they can apply for via the AdminCP Options. And if you need to change a question or error message, just need to edit the appropriate phrases

Have you done this?

Yes I did - forum id is 58

Still receiving the error - so I turned off the option to automatically post in a forum and I am receiving emails. Would LOVE to fix this though.

FYI:...Change questions by searching for them in phrases and replace them. I was able to add moe questions but had to make a file edit, but it's possible.

I'm not sure why you are receiving that error then as the only reasons that error would come up, is if the "Create a Thread" was set to yes and you left the forum id field blank, or possibly have the wrong forum id in that field.

build_forum_counters isn't in functions_newpost.php

Look at functions_databuild.php.

Not compatible with v 4.1.4 :(
Meaning what? What happens? Telling me it's not compatible with 4.1.4 with no description of the problem(s) you're having is like taking your car to a shop saying your car is broken and you need it fixed. What's broken? :confused:

Ouch lol

I would venture to guess that this would be one of those modifications that are not compatible with 4.0.3 and under because of all the changes that were made. I would say your best bet would be to upgrade as I don't have 4.0.3 installed so I can't exactly re-code this to work with 4.0.3 atm

And for the record, I have it running perfectly fine on my 4.1.4 test site.....

I uploaded all files, and went to import the XML and this comes up,

The following dependencies were not met:
This product is not compatible with version 4.1.4 of vBulletin. (Compatible starting with 4.0.0 / Incompatible with 4.1.4 and greater)

For those of you who were receiving this error:
The following dependencies were not met:
This product is not compatible with version 4.1.4 of vBulletin. (Compatible starting with 4.0.0 / Incompatible with 4.1.4 and greater)
You may either redownload the .zip and reimport the xml

OR

You can fix this by manually editing the xml in notepad/wordpad and change
maxversion="4.1.4"
to
maxversion=""

Try this, go to AdminCP > Plugins & Products > Plugin Manager > Scroll to "Product : [USML] Staff Application" and find:

And disable that plugin. Does that remove the error?

Hi HMBeaty,

Since i mentioned earlier i am having some type of errors on 4.1.4. Here is the first error that i get .

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/****/public_html/forumname/includes/class_bootstrap.php(414) : eval()'d code on line 79

After this i thought to disable all mods completely and try to run this one alone and at that point i got 2 which are these ones.

Warning: Unexpected character in input: ''' (ASCII=39) state=1 in /home/****/public_html/forumname/includes/class_bootstrap.php(414) : eval()'d code on line 4

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '<' in /home/****/public_html/forumname/includes/class_bootstrap.php(414) : eval()'d code on line 4

Do u think it can b fixed ??

Ok, thanks. Now I know what the cause of the error is/was. I'll see if I can fix this later tonight. For now, to add a link to the staff application for your users, edit your navbar template and find:
<vb:if condition="$show['memberslist']">

Well that stinks :( I would say just leave the parse_templates plugin disabled and manually edit the navbar then. For some reason, your sites aren't agreeing with that plugin. :confused:

***** How come i don't get any email or pm when someone submits an application for a position ????? ******
For email: ensure you have a valid email address entered in "Send by Email". Check your spam folder too

For PM: ensure you have a valid userid (NOT username) entered in "User ID (Sender)" and a valid username (NOT userid) entered in "Private Message Recipients" and also verify that "Send by PM" is set to "Yes"

maybe because you are not using phrases

Just a teaser for what's to come in 1.5.0 :D
new features
------------
1. New PM Sender Options! - You may specify if you want the pm to be sent by the applicant, or another user that you may still specify in "User ID (Sender)"

2. Poll creation settings! - Create a poll, make the poll public, specify up to 4 options that users may vote for

3. New Options for Auto Template Changes! - Enable/Disable automatic template edit, Specify where you want the link to be placed

misc fixes
------------
- error messages reworked and rewritten
- bugfix for plugin not installing correctly for some users
- plugins optimized (to help decrease memory usage)
I have all of this coded and working, just going through testing to make sure there aren't any errors and to be sure everything is working correctly, and need to clean up the code a little. Should be released either tonight or tomorrow :D

<div class="blockrow">

</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div class="col2">

</div>
</div>
</div>
To:
<div class="blockrow">

Just a few new features to note:

Birthday automatically gets filled in now, and if birthday is required on registration, the user is not able to edit the birthday in the application.

Also, location automatically gets filled in, which is editable at all times by the user.

I've reduced the amount of phrases as well. So, if you want to edit a question, you should only need to edit ONE phrase now, and it will change everywhere.

Enjoy :D

Nowhere does it say "check your MOD Control panel" in this modification. You need to define how it gets submitted (PM / Email / New Thread) via the settings in the AdminCP

LOL! Good to know it's working. This modification (prior to release) has been tested vigorously and I haven't been able to come across any errors.....at least none that I know of. Basically, in my testing process, I make a checklist of every combination possible and test each combination one by one, right down the list. If something goes wrong, I fix it, and when it's fixed, is when it's released ;)

So, any errors anyone gets must either be coming from a conflicting modification (like the one you posted above), or they haven't installed the modification (and changed the settings, too ;)) correctly :)

Because you probably have the applications going to a private forum, right? If it's a forum they normally aren't allowed to post in/view, their posts/applications will show up as moderated. It's default vBulletin behavior

When I try to enter birthday nothing happens?
That depends on what you have set here:

AdminCP > Settings > Options > User Profile Options > Require Date of Birth

If you have that setting set to yes, they should've entered their birthday upon the time they registered, which would automatically populate the birthday field with the birth date they provided at the time of registration. So, that being said, that field is not editable if that setting is set to yes. (Helps prevent false birthdays ;))

If you have that setting set to no, then they should be able to edit the birthday field in the application.

check to make sure all files are uploaded to the right folders

Yes they are,
staff-application.php in /forum/ root
/forum/includes/functions_staff-application.php
/forum/includes/xml/bitfield_staffapplication.xml

Just tried another mod (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=234385), I can install and configure both of them, but this last one doesn't even show its link in the navbar. And if I manually input its url (mysite.com/forum/forms.php?do=forms) I get Error 500 once again.

Also, when I go to Admin CP > Products and Plugins > Products management > And I try to check product's version it says "Version check failed. No version number was found at this location. The URL for the version check may be incorrect, or the server may be experiencing problems. Please try again later." this error comes from: $vbphrase[version_check_failed_not_found]

Although this doesn't happen with [USML] Staff Application. Just for the records :/

any error logs with this plugin

I don't know where to get them :D I'm limited to my CP only, I'm just an admin, I do not own the shared webhosting account sadly.

By the way, I re-installed it and I was messing around with the CHMODs under staff-application.php file, and if I add more privileges than 644, then error 500 pop up, but if it is set to 644 (just like the other files in my /forum/ root) I can click on Staff Application link at my navbar and this time it shows "not enough privileges or admin might have deactivated my account" error (at least it isn't error 500)... Its really weird.

If you are not the owner but if you have FTP access then you can add your user id to the config.php and make yourself super admin if you don't have this then talk to the owner and ask for any error logs they will be emailed to the email that is in the config

you are getting this error "not enough privileges or admin might have deactivated my account" because you need to set the permissions in the usergroup you are in and also for all the others you want to use this mod

Hello,
I installed this mod but it isn't working like it should.
I'm Admin of my forum and when i click on Staff Application in navbar it give me error:
Asama, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

How to solve?

Looks like you have to enable permissions for each users groups in Usergroups/Usergroup Manager in your AdminCP!
