View Full Version : Weird Facebook Issue - Facebook page created automatically for me?

Hello,

I set up facebook integration a while back. The other day I noticed someone liked one of my posts and as a result facebook automatically created a facebook page for my site. When I click the admin link I am taken to the admin interface of the page in facebook. However, none of the options seem to change when I change them.

If I click to modify the "about" part for example I am taken to a page asking me to modify permissions. In fact any administration function I want to do takes me to this page. Facebook seems to think I am an admin but isn't actually giving me admin permissions.

Anyone else have this problem? A sample article with the facebook page can be viewed here:

I am getting a bunch of likes because of a huge influx to my site today but I can't quite figure out where those likes are going. Help would be greatly appreciated.

wish it would make mine for me :) kinda sounds like you linked to an existing page somehow

Thanks for the reply but I can prety much guarantee I did not create the page or ever link to it :) unless that happened automatically when I created the App. It seems like it was created the first time someone liked something. And with the influx of users I got yesterday (80+ likes) I would love to know where those likes went.

If I click on the actual admin page link on my article there are only 5 people that like it (as opposed to the 80 that show up on the lke button on my article) and again there doesn't seem to be any way for me to change anything eventhough it is treating me as an admin (all the edit links show up) and I can post stuff to the wall as an admin.

This is driving me crazy.

Sorry, I editted my posts above before I saw your reply. Maybe the page was created when I created the facebook app to enable facebook connect? But if that's the case I should be able to change settings such as website, and page title, no?

Yes, all the IDs and other information is filled out under the facebook settings in admin CP. The article is not posted on the facebook page though I do have "Publish to Facebook - Article Comment" set to no.

On edit: I do see app settings under my facebook apps page and they don't seem to match the information on the facebook page as far as page title goes. The app also has 8 users as opposed to the 5 likes of the facebook page.

Edit 2: I did have an existing page for one of my businesses, on my facebook main page it is the only page I can see. My facebook page for this site doesn't even show up.

I would delete them all and start over create a new ap use its secret and IDs and go from there, a few likes doesnt matter and enable post to facebook to test the connection

Where is the "page" you're talking about?
The cms page you linked to does have a "like" button, but that doesn't automatically make you a fan page, it just shows on the users who have "liked" that page, a link back to the page they "liked"..
