I give a left arm to be able to set banners correctly on my site but it just wont happen.

In using a top banner, this is what I get:

http://i469.photobucket.com/albums/rr51/flamenko_photos/Example2.jpg

Its at the top and obscures my login.

If I try to put it above or below the forums it always goes to the left side and look absolutely terrible.

I have tried inserting the center code with no luck.

Is there any decent plugins for VB4 or ideas folks?

It would be great to have a decent ad placement program where I could put ads above the forums and above posts lined up.

Oh another problem...deleted all crucial adds and the footer one to the left is still there????
Tx!

How about an image of what you want it to look like and a link to the site.

Hi again Lynne... I should be paying you. I would like it to have the top banner to the right lowered and centered like it is on most sites including my main page (http://thessdreview.com) where the SandForce banner is placed perfectly.

The problem I have with the two top banner placements available through VB4 is that they stick right two the top rather than being top to bottom of the header centered.

Does that help at all? K wait I will ...here ya go:

I just want them to sit where they normally would.

I don't see any of those banners on your forums page. I can't write CSS for a banners that aren't there. :/

I dont leave them up because they arent appealing to look at and, I cant log in and out with the top one. I guess I just wonder why, in my site...WP has the positioning correct yet with VB, they are so far off.

Lynne, I will pm you my e-mail and would appreciate any help you can offer whatsoever! I will even throw the Crucial adds back up if it will help. Question though.... If I then later change the company or banner size will the css change?

Actually my e-mail is public anyway Les AT thessdreview DOT com

Just throw them up on a different style that isn't the default style for your site. That way it is not very likely others will be viewing that style.

I put them on the main forum. I have no prob with appearance for a night... I will just leave a not in the threads.

Oh and also...once the css is fixed, will I be able to change to different size banners if i want for a few spots? All long but some a bit longer?

You can try this in your additional.css template:
#ad_global_header2 { float: right; margin: 50px 0 0; }
however, the placement of that really depends on where your leftside logo is. It's much larger than on your main page and the banner will only go to the right if the browser window is wide enough.
#ad_global_below_navbar, , #ad_board_after_forums {
text-align: center; }

This is going to sound dumb...where is aditional.css ? No luck as of yet finding.

Lynne

It's a template in the CSS Templates group in Style Manager > find style > Edit Templates.

Ok...your brilliant and we have the first set! I hate to say this but I have to be off to work...midnight shift. I will be back in the morning to fix the rest if you leave anything.

Thanks again Lynne!!

Can we fix the two banners above and below the forums on the main page so theye are centered with the forum width and not that of the left side bar as well?

Any assistance is appreciated and you r free to contact by e-mail if it is more of a premium assistance.

Did you add both the CSS lines I posted in post #8?

TheSSDReview

Yes I did and the one I am having the most trouble with is the bove pik. It centers to the entire page width and I am hoping to find a way to get it to center to the forums themselves. It ends up being in the middle of the add and the yellow box above.

This only becomes a problem as I added the block on the left.

The only way to do that would be to add some left-padding to the div that is about half of the width of your sidebar.

TheSSDReview

How would I do that and.... is there not a CSS in use by forums that I could simply create the banner at top of the forums and then center it? For instance, there is one below the forums that I can center..

Lynne

You want to center it above a section that is to the side. Your banner is not within the div, so you would need to do something else to move it over and left padding will do it.

Lynne,

I have a question that goes outside the VB forum perspective and deals more with my site itself and you are probably the only person I can think of that may have the answer. I will ask it but you are free to pm or e-mail response because, if it is more time consuming I would be able to assist with such.

My present theme (http://thessdreview.com) is Reflecta 2 and they do not do custom alterations. I am getting overwhelming interest in advertising on the site and the thick right side bar would be better served if it were half as wide and on both sides.

Would you know of anywhere that this can be adjusted as such or anyone whom I may approach?

Thanks again but a bit of difficulty...

I just switched my top right banner from a static banner to GIF and, even though they are both the same size, the new banner shoves my left menu (Website) down as can be seen in the picture...

Thoughts?? I will leave it up on the site for your viewing pleasure and thoughts...Tx!!! http://thessdreview.com/Forums/forum.php

You have two links in that navtab:
<li>
<a href="http://eshop.macsales.com/search/Mercury+Extreme+Pro+6G+SSD"></a><a class="navtab" target="_self" href="http://thessdreview.com"> Website</a>
</li>

Only one <a> per <li> or you get what you are now seeing.

I am sorry but I dont understand. I only see one link to the link and one ref to the graphic. Here is the html:

<a href="http://eshop.macsales.com/search/Mercury+Extreme+Pro+6G+SSD"><img src="http://thessdreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/ssd6g468x60.gif" </a>

Lynne

How weird. Firebug is showing that there, so my guess is that top one is from an unclosed tag you have.

Yep - this is the correct syntax for that (you didn't close the image tag):
<a href="http://eshop.macsales.com/search/Mercury+Extreme+Pro+6G+SSD"><img src="http://thessdreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/ssd6g468x60.gif" /> </a>
