Page number displays

Where would I need to go in my admin cp to get pages in forums to display 1,2,3,4. And someone would have to click the link for page four before they go on to pages 5,6,7, and 8. Rather than the default display of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 and on and on?

The code that creates the pagenav menu is function construct_page_nav in functions.php.

The only setting in admin cp that controls the page navigation is in general settings-> Number of Pages Visible in Page Navigator.
