I've noticed on my forums and others I mod at, that sometimes a post is deleted with no reason given.

To help stop this, I altered the form to use a drop down box with reasons that I predefined.

This also works for Delete Threads and Delete Threads as Spam.

If your staff come across a post and one of your predifined reasons doesn't fit it, they can choose the 'other' option which will give them a textbox to enter their own reason.

The text 'Please enter a reason for deletion below: ' is a phrase so you can easily change it to something else either by searching for that text or the phrase name which is 'delete_enable_other'.

As of version 1.1.1 - You can now choose which usergroups can use the 'Other' option.

Installation

Just upload the XML file at ACP > Plugins & Products > Manage Products > Add/Import Products.

To upgrade, follow the above steps and check the Allow Overwrite option.

You'll find a new option at ACP > vBulletin Options called Delete Reasons - Here you can enable the mod (it's disabled as default), enter your predefined reasons and also choose to enabled it for the Delete as Spam feature.

Your predefined reasons must be separated with a comma(,).

Version History
1.2.0 - Predefined reasons added for Delete Thread & Delete Thread as Spam.
1.1.1 - You can now define what usergroups can use the 'Other' option.
1.1.0 - Enabled you to choose an 'Other' option which allowed you to enter a different reason.
1.0.0 - Initial release.

Great idea but doesnt this limit you to predefined reasons ... what if you want to give a reason which is not listed in the options. Such a option would be nice.

I think this is great for Admins who want to ensure consistency when it comes to Moderation on their board.

I'll see about adding an 'Other' option which will let mods add something else.

I noticed this doesn't provide a drop down box when selecting to delete a thread only when deleting a post within a thread...

Now updated to work for thread deletion. I'm pretty sure there's no bugs but if you come across any please let me know.

Sorry for the delay, work has been hectic the past few months and I had very little free time.

This will probably be the last update now as there's very little, if anything, else that can be added to it.

I shall start work on a vb4 version for this soon as well.

I'll take a look but I'm not sure how as there's no option to give a reason let alone adding predefined ones.

Nice, just some notes, in postbit legacy if you select edit then delete your menu does not appear. Not even if you select edit full options.
Would love a pull down menu in each message (only for moderators) where if you select a reason then the message is deleted (less clicks and scrolling). But this is more a VB stuff

In rest works quite nice :) thanks

I'll get that added and release an update in the next few days.

The only trouble with automatically deleting after selecting an option is that if the wrong option is selected there's no going back on it.
