Hello!
I want to restrict the daily thread views for Registered Usergroup members (and if possible for one more usergroup Lurkers otherwise I will have to delete it if I can restrict only one usergroup).
Is this possible?

Use the Limited Guest Viewing mod and adapt so it can be for the groups that you want instead of guests.

I dont think this mod have ability to limit views on the daily bases. Isnt it limit total number of views for the visitor?

Yes, but as I siad, you can modifiy it to suit your needs.
Or you can code or have someone code for you a new mod from scratch.

He's already asked over in that mod and it doesn't look easy to do. Usually once a person registers that grants them full access. I've never seen a mod that limits different usergroups to x numbers of reads per y hours.
I suggested to him earlier that it could maybe be done with vbulletin subscriptions, but I've never messed with them so I don't know.
Must be nice to have a forum that's so busy you can even cut off full members!

It is easy to adjust it to what the OP wants.

It is easy to adjust it to what the OP wants.Maybe for you. But that mod was designed with a single usergroup in mind (Guests), and would require a lot of re-coding to also accommodate multiple usergroups and multiple conditions.
But in the end it probably doesn't make much sense anyway, as I still think what he's trying to accomplish would be better done with the subscription system already in place.

All he has to do is to replace the conditional for guests with one that will include all groups and choose only the groups that he wants or hard code it directly for only the groups that he wants.
Of course, you must know some php to do that but if you do then it is very easy.

Thank you for the suggestion. Can you please highlight how I can use subscription system in this way?

I can't answer that for two reasons. First (and most importantly) you haven't told anyone exactly what it is you're trying to accomplish. Second, as I said before, I don't use subscriptions so I'm the wrong person to ask.
FYI, the manual is at vBulletin Manual (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/) which should explain subscriptions.
PS Borbole has been known to write mods on a whim. You've got him halfway there, but again since nobody else is asking for this I don't think you'll get him to do it. I still think everyone else does it with subscriptions.

First of all, I dont have php or vb coding knowledge (but i'm self learning it so that i dont have to ask for things i want to do). So, you can say that I have a little php and vb knowledge.
Secondly, I will explain what exactly I'm trying to accomplish.
Please see Limit Attachment Downloads (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=241727). What I want is to Limit Thread Views.
All the limiting and other features of Limit Attachment Downloads (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=241727) would be appreciated in Limit Thread Views.
Limit Attachment Downloads (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=241727) hack is pretty flexible BUT its fine if Limit Thread Views would not be that flexible.
I dont know if seeing that hack made it clear that what i want. I hope it make clear otherwise I will try to explain in another way. Actually English is not my native language, so i'm not very good in it :o.

Oh, I understand you saw that mod and think it can accomplish whatever you're trying to do. But what you haven't explained is why you think you want it. This just leaves us guessing.
It's just very odd that you would want a full member to suddenly be cut off in mid-view and have to clear their cookies to continue (you do understand that mod doesn't actually stop a determined person?). This makes some sense to treat lurkers this way, but not registered members.
Again, if this is supposed to be a way to raise money then you want subscriptions. Or maybe just notices.

Why?
I want it because I cant afford to upgrade my server and load is increasing. So, if I can limit the daily views on registered members, then those who want more views will have to purchase a subscription. In this way ---->> registered members will have limited access, so load will decrease AND subscriptions will increase which may help me to afford a upgradation.
clear their cookies to continue (you do understand that mod doesn't actually stop a determined person?)
Ohhhh! this doesnt came to my mind. Then, I think Limit Attachment Downloads (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=241727) also a failure if a member can download attachment after clearing the cookies.
It would be great if there is way to limit thread views for free members.
May be something new with the help of Limited Guest Viewing (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=231352) and Limit Attachment Downloads (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=241727) could become as Limited Thread Views - Motivate Free Members to Purchase Premium Subscription
I dont know what type of limitations are being used in Limit Attachment Downloads (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=241727), they can be adopted and cookies+IP restriction from Limited Guest Viewing (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=231352) can be used. If IP restriction is used then that member cant do anything other than using a proxy and proxy access can be disabled on forum. There are mods available for this.
I think I will have to learn vb coding and try this myself. I dont know if its possible for me to create something like this. Are there any tutorials or helping material to learn vb coding in order to create a vb hack?

and why would you want to? unless you're having them pay to view more, why else discourage activity?
aaah missed the last post.

Yes, I had a feeling it was all about money. I encourage you to look into other time-tested solutions before you try something as drastic as Limited Member Viewing. If you have a lot of traffic, start by selling ads. Also consider setting up special forums for members only (subscriptions).
Forget about any kind of IP blocking IMHO. First, large groups of people often use the same IP (a family, a college dorm, etc.), IPs are shared and change all the time, and anonymous IPs are becoming the rage (I'm using one myself and have responded to this thread from some 3-4 different IPs). Also anyone accessing from a mobile device or from work & home will be using multiple IPs.

hmmm you are right. IP restriction seems to be bad.
yah, I am already considering setting up special forums for paid members only but it will take a lot of time and hard-work.
my forum is in my native language which most ads companies dont support and even those who support dont have much ads for my site. i tried adsense but its ads are not relative to my site so with 10000 impressions and hardly a few clicks i can hardly make 1 USD daily. impressions number is fine but i can increase clicks bcoz ads are not relative at all. Were time-tested solutions are ads and special section?? Please tell me if there are any other time-tested solutions. Thanks in advance!!

There may be others, but I am unaware of them. We fund our small shared-hosting forum with a few local sponsors @$60 USD per quarter. I use Rotating Banner System (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=188328) to display them in a few places. People can block these banner ads, so we also give sponsors a special name tag and a special forum they can post announcements in.
If your forum is larger and more global in nature, you'll want to look up "SEO" and "vbseo".

hmmm I think I will have to purchase vBSEO. SEO of my site is NOT good.
Yes forum is larger and global in nature. There are 315 different sections (forums & sub-forums) which almost covers all the culture, literature, media, sports, etc of country. Having local sponsors is great. My forum is 3 years old and about a year ago a friend send me idea to sponsor forum with local companies BUT i just cant start it. I have NO IDEA from where I start, how i can ask companies to sponsor my forum. I am very happy to know that someone have alreay adopted this idea and successfully running forum with local sponsors @$60 USD per quarter.
Can you please tell me how you asked them to sponsor you and most importantly if you contacted a company then to whom you talked and what you asked. Companies have many employees so dont know how to ask someone and I dont know if they will even talk or not about this.

All of our current sponsors contacted us. But we also carry rate cards around and give them to local businesses.
Don't become enslaved to SEO. It's more an art than a science.
IMHO, 315 is 10X too many forums. If you try to please everyone, you're likely to end up pleasing nobody. It gets confusing to people.

:erm: Unable to understand this. I am going for vBSEO, I hope thats enough because I'm not a SEO professional. :)

I hear that a lot. Actually there arent many forums BUT sub-forums are.
e.g; There are sections for poetry and books of local languages. Only these two sections have about 75 sub-forums each as there are many writers and poets.
