The premium version has the following features, and includes free updates:
Copyright removed
Auto Set Name Based On Forum Username
vBulletin Password to Access IRC
Custom Background Image

Usergroup Permissions

To Do:

Add AdminCP setting to ban UserIDs
Add AdminCP setting to change the looks of the chatbox
Add a toolbar to popup the chat in a new window

Installation:
1.) Upload the contents of the upload folder to your forum's root.

2.) Import the product-lightircchatbox.xml.

3.) Enter the settings via the AdminCP. If you need an IRC server try irc.ipocalypse.net

4.) Navigate to chatbox.php via your forums.

Optional
If you do not want to use the navigational link insertion, you can add this code to your navbar template.

If you want to only allow certain groups use this code:

Installation:

Very unclear what IRC has to do with anything. Is my own server load eliminated because this is using someone else's IRC server?

Also, why would anyone want to install a chatbox that has no support?

This uses IRC servers, which only causes 1 simple query per page load, after that, it's all done via IRC servers, thereby reducing your serverload.

The old Version at least had the Usergroup settings. Now with the 4.x Version you have that only in Premium Version, thats not really nice. As it is now I can't use it and I sure can't afford for a every little thing people want money for.

As much as I appreciate you bringing this Mod back to 4.x but like this I can't use it. I am sorry.
This is not ment as disrespect, but when this mod was transformed to 4.x I expected it to have at least the same features than before. Not that it would cost money for the same things that it had before.

I'm working on bringing everything back, but I rewrote both the premium and free versions. When I get the time, I'll add some old stuff back. I had plans for the Usergroup feature, the ability to use usernames, and the popout feature was coming to the free version.

I'm working on serveral mods and I do have plans for bring most if not all the same features back plus more, it's just the way I coded the free and premium versions is different, so I have to add everything back to both plugins, and that is time consuming.

Plus with everyone charging for the same plugins now... I can't afford those plugins either, I see where you are coming from, it just takes time.

Bit of an issue here:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ':' in /home/********/public_html/forums/includes/class_bootstrap.php(1312) : eval()'d code on line 1

It makes my site all strange and some images don't show up. Had to disable it for now.

Edit: Uninstalled till a fix comes out.

For a mod labeled as "supported" there isn't much support around to help. May-b someone should remove the "supported" tag if no one is gonna help with this.

A shame too, I wanted to mess with this before purchasing the premium version, but due to no support AT ALL I will be looking this mod over.

I only hope that the developer does come back here to offer some support to those of you having problems with this mod.

My only suggestion is not forcing me to register on your site to view the Premium Content! I know the object is to get viewers, but I want to see a price before I decide....that and a working update for 4.1 as I'm receiving the same parse error as everyone else.

I'm not doing it to get views for my website. I actually didn't even know you had to register to view the content. My mistake on that one. The only reason I have a product page is because VBulletin is making me.

The price is $10 for lifetime updates. I am limiting this to 20 sales and I already sold 14 premiums. After that major updates will be $5.

If anyone else has questions about the premium version, please PM me, as I do not want VBulletin staff thinking I am trying to advertise the premium version.

The usergroup blocking would only apply to the actual vB page, yes? Outside of that they would still be able to access the channel via regular means?

Correct, but it is possible to hide the channel name.

Ah, true. Been awhile since I've used IRC in any fashion.

Looking forward to the update though, on my forums the chat system is over-utilized and it has caused some serious load issues and bandwidth problems.

Once I test the free version, and if all works great, for sure going with the premium.

As far as the error, it has been fixed in the premium version, I am working on the free version as we speak. A few features will be brought to the free version as well.

Other than that, if anyone has any suggestions, free or premium. Let me know.

Thank you for responding, and thanks for the update on the problem. I wait patiently for the free version to test out as I hate Ez-IRC [mostly due to it using it mibbit as a connection medium].

Slight error. For some reason, some vBadvanced features do not work when your mod is enabled. In the Online users area of vBa, it shows how many members are online, but not the names of the members.

And also the "edit post" and "reply" buttons are the default buttons on custom styles when they are not supposed to be.

When I disable your mod, everything works again.

Thoughts?

In the Online users area of vBa, it shows how many members are online, but not the names of the members.

Using the pro version, we are experiencing this, too. The names do not show just "Array".

Also, smilies are not showing in our chat window.

Or could all these problems be associated with my board running vB 4.1.2?
It's the paid screenshot, my mistake.

The reason it is not working is because you did not set up your settings. If everything is blank, what server will it connect to?

For the host put irc.mibbit.com
For Channel use #YourDomainName
Leave Nickname and Alt Nickname blank if you want to use your members nicknames.

I'm still working on the new update for the premium version, but once all is settled, most premium features will be on the free version.

I'm working on two products here.

As for the VBA, I use the VBulletin CMS, so I can not help out there. If someone will pm me their server information I can isolate the issue and fix it.

Your changelog says "I ported the pro feature "members can use their own names" to the free version.", however using the latest version above that feature doesn't appear to be available. Removing the names from the Nickname and Alt. Nickname fields in options just makes everyone be "Anon???".

I've ATTEMPTED to follow the directions on your support page, didn't help.

First i got a java error, then i read the other FAQ about it, set the parameters in pjirc_chatbox via style templates, it started up again but im still getting undefined string

Question, is there a way to change the white background color to a darker one to match my system colors. I noticed that you had a image that shows a darker one and need to know where I can change this.

Also keep getting a java error message, does anyone know how I can fix this or disable it and should I have a concern about this error message.

I tried this out and liked it, and decided to pay the $10.00 for the Premium version.
So got the link to the download and installed and got an error message as I mentioned in my last post. Sent an email to the Author with the issue as well stating that he should support his product here and fix the issues that I have and the others.

I just got an update for the Premium version from the Author and it is now working. I hope and trust that he will update those the purchased the Premium version, if not get onto his site and leave him an email.

It would be nice if, when you click on the chatbox "Tab", that you get a drop down box or something else that would allow you to select from a list of channels.

In other words, my forums deal with multiple products and each product has its own IRC channel. So, it would be nice to have a solution for that.

do u even scan the files befor u upload them for others... how do we know there is no virus inside this folders.. that can hack ur passwords etc i suggest u scan all files befor u upload...

Does this not work with 4.2.0? Installed everything looks correct, when you go to chatbox.php your copyright info is there and what not but no java chat is loading or anything.

pjirc.chat-zip is not commonly downloaded and could be dangerous...

It's not got over 1 million downloads, so in Google Chrome it says it's not commonly downloaded. It's safe, if you still have concerns, you can download all of PJIRCs files from here (http://sourceforge.net/projects/pjirc/files/binaries/2.2.1/pjirc_2_2_1_bin.zip/download), and replace them in the irc directory.

No that occurs even in PJIRC, I have yet to find a way to bypass that. It can be set as trusted and then it won't bother you anymore. I have to do that with this mod, and any Java game I play online.

As far as the free version, there were a couple bugs that needed addressing, they have been fixed. Please download the new PJIRC Chat 7-10-13.zip file and upload the pjirc.xml to overwrite. You do not need to reupload any files except for the product xml. :)

LightIRC has released! Due to an exploit that has been brought to my attention by my security team, I would recommend uninstalling PJIRC and using LightIRC. PJIRC is no longer supported by it's creator and therefor the exploit that was discovered may not be fixed. However I have ported all the features over to LightIRC to integrate that into vBulletin. With this I have brought in the request to use vBulletin passwords as the password to the IRC server in the donate version. LightIRC is updated often, and with each update I will be updating the Product. Now you will not have to worry about any annoying popups to use the chat that come with the Java! It's quick, sleek, and did I mention quick? Because it is.

Anyway any problems feel free to report them to me. Make sure you uninstall PJIRC, delete your IRC directory, and the chatbox.php. Now upload everything in the upload folder back to your vB directory, install lightirc and set your settings. :)

It's only an integration script of lightirc. I already have ads on the forums, if you want to have your own ad on the forums, Private Message me.

I notice the paid version, while listed as "LightIRC Chatbox Pro", gives a file for download called PJIRC_Chatbox_Pro, with separate "Light IRC" and "PJIRC Chatbox Pro" folders inside the compressed file. I assume the Light IRC files inside that are the correct ones for the Pro version?
Yes both PJIRC and LightIRC are include. PJIRC is more for archiving purposes. If they update it, then I will continue to push updates to it as well.

I want to buy the pro but have a problem with lightirc I don't see a port option in admincp and if I try load it it's saying problem with flashpolicy

Does your irc server need a port? Usually the default port will work, but you can edit in the xml file for now. I will update in the new version. :)

The modification is not compatible with PHP v5.4. You will need to replace that function with similar functionality.

Just got this installed and is we are getting this error message within the chat box on Windows Vista machines running IE and Chrome (works fine on my Windows 8 box.)

It sounds like the chat server needs to update something or is this something we can fix?

I get the same exact error, even trying to connect to the devs demo site... something is amiss here, uninstalling.

Tested on win8 on chrome and IE11 and firefox.

Searching google reveals that the irc network I am connecting to (foreverchat) might not be running the flash server required for this plugin:
