Hello;
I'm a new customer. I just purchased the suite. I'm going to want to modify the look of the home page for the CMS.
I've looked at dozens of Vb4 sites with CMS installed and many of them are very similar with little customization.
I found this one, that takes on a substantially different look (It's in dutch, but I just want to show it to you for the graphics / layout anyway):
http://www.bouvierforum.nl/content.php
From what I can gather, their changes primarily consisted of changing text and background colors, and removing or replacing some of the common icons / graphics. It does not look that complicated, but defiantly takes on a different look than other VB4 CMS sites I have seen.
2 Questions:
1. How difficult are the changes that are found in that example site; would these changes be similar to the process I went through to create the skin for my Invision site?
2. Does anyone have any other good examples of the VB4 CMS modified to look substantially different than the default that they can share?
Thanks very much;
Jamie

well that example is just a style change and some widgets set in a layout grid of what looks like 25 50 25 percent, its got nothing to fancy as I can see and the colors are nice earthy looking . not that hard to get to . the hard part of cms is figuring out how to use category and sections, i suggest a test site for this and just go to town changing stuff
heres the pull I see on it, they use video in almost every story , the weather widget is cool and they can be tricky make, the rest is all mostly static html widgets , i would say it is very easy to replicate every thing you see in it here is mine (http://fourstateshome.com/) also very simple style and layouts change, with a couple of widgets I made. this site I made this week so its almost new, and is newest stable version.

That site looks nice. Thanks for the information.
As far as the graphics at the top of my page / menu bar, I'm interested in something like this:
126588
Creating the graphics like that isn't a big deal. I'm more concerned with how involved it is to modify the code to accommodate a layout like that.
Thanks;

in styles and templates>> style manager>>navbar>>navbar_background
ok i made a pic from that one and you must upload it to your server to the images/gradients Dir
then use this in the Background Image url(images/gradients/nav.jpg)
Background Color: transparent
: no repeat
this will show you were to start , there is a lot of stuff you will run into doing this sort of thing as navbar is fluid, so you may have to make your background fixed
you may also have to make the pic fit your sites navbar specs by editing it

Thank You.
I do not have an option for navbar in my style manager, could this be different in 4.1.1?
Thanks,
Jamie

Interesting. What theme are you going to use?
I'm from OK and we don't normally think of ourselves as having much affinity to the other three states (moreso to TX). What gave you the idea?
