Okay, so I have tried over atleast 30 combinations trying to connect the mysql database.. I`ve practically tried everything.. I even did it to where I had no errors on the vbulletin installation... I`m starting to think its the database name where it`s supposed to be left as 'localhost'... but I always get errors with localhost... I use x10hosting.com
If anybody could assist me with this it would be greatly appreciated !
edit; I use vbulletin version 4...

That is not the database name but the server name.
Anyway, in 90% of the cases the server name would be localhost. But if you are not sure, then go to the phpmyadmin and check the server name there or ask your host about the database information.

Thanks, hopefully I can get it to work... I went ahead and tried using vbulletin 3.8, but this version has a issue in the installation pages... its all black and white..

Use servername.x10hosting.com (replacing servername with your subdomain) or use your server's IP address as the hostname.
( They don't say this in their knowledgebase, but they DO mention it on their forums.
http://x10hosting.com/forums/free-hosting/41086-sql-server-hostname.html )

Your server IP address should be in the cPanel that x10hosting provided you with.
Since you have an actual domain, and not just a subdomain, I guess you should try rideordies.com instead of rideordies.x10hosting.com.
BTW, the IP address of your webstie (and likely your SQL server, too) is 99.198.123.4

P.S., I prefer the 3.8.x vB (in hindsight), because there were/are much less errors in it, it was easier for me to understand the customization, and there were a lot more Modifcations supported for it.
If you're new to vBulletin (and therefore new to customizing and styling), maybe 4.x wouldn't be as frustrating, since you don't have enough time in with 3.8.x to really notice the big differences with styling and customization. It's really your call on it, but just don't feel like you HAVE to upgrade. Plenty of sites are happy, fine, and dandy using the 3.8.x. Unless you really want some feature that 3.8.x just doesn't have, I'd recommend staying with it instead of going to 4.x. :>

You can see your server name by going to the phpmyadmin.
