Soon I'll be changing the forum url from a subdomain to a directory so that I can use a wordpress bridge.
I'll be changing from: forums.mysite.com to mysite.com/forums. Can I do it and have all old urls redirect to the new one, or am I going to have to deal with some 404ing?
TIA.

If you have cPanel, navigave to subdomains >> manage redirects >> yoursite.com/forums
That should do the trick.

I have a similar situation.
Current wordpress site: www.wp.mysite.com
Current forums/site: www.mysite.com/forum.php
What's the best way to redirect the sub-domains so that the WP site is the homepage, but my forums are still active?

In your case, it seems as though you could just create a subdirectory "forum"/"forums" in your forum root, and put your vBulletin files there. Then either direct your site to the wp.mysite domain or copy the wp content to your forum root.

Yeah, that's what I thought aswell, but none of the redirects were actually taking effect. I had a talk to my host and they ended up deleting my entire site trying to redirect a url, luckily they had a backup from an hour or so earlier.
