View Full Version : Profile Enhancements - Public Ignore Lists on User Profile by BOP5

Want to stir up some drama on your forums? This mod will display the ignore list for each user on their profile for all the world (forum) to see!
Latest Version 1.35- There was a bug in all old versions that stopped this from working on Firefox. ALL users should upgrade.
As of version 1.3 there are now settings. You can enable/disable the mod and activate it for all or specified usergroups only.
If the user has any members on their ignore list a new profile tab called "Ignore List" will be visible. If they don't have anyone on their ignore list there will be no tab.
Live Demo (No registration required, VB 3.8 version): http://www.juot.net/forums/member.php?u=1302
Please Mark as Installed if you use this. :)
I have tested this on 4.0.8 and it should work on 4.0.0 - 4.1.1 at least, please let me know your exact version number if you have a problem.
Notice: A query is generated for each user on the ignore list. If your users only have a handful of people on the ignore list this shouldn't be a problem but if you have users with dozens or even hundreds of people on ignore I don't know how your server would react to so many queries at once.
I suggest you check out this mod: Ignore List Denies Reply to Thread (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=181315) for more ignore list fun. :D (Yes it works in 4.x)
Full instructions in .zip file.
Noted by OldSchoolDSL: After installing you may want to quickly rebuild their themes (styles). Upon 1st installing this it looked like it trashed my theme, but manually rebuilding seemed to fix the issue.
AdminCP > Maintenance > Update Counters > Rebuild Styles (Yes, Yes, Rebuild Styles)

Added a new version 1.3. It now has settings- you can choose what usergroups are able to use the mod now if you want to restrict it to maybe only mods and admins or VIP users/etc...

I could see where this might be beneficial for the staff, but to other users, I would think it will end up causing more problems that it is worth.

That's pretty much the point. ;)

I just noticed today that I can't see member's ignore lists unless I am not logged in. I installed the updated version applied the settings and still can only see the list when not logged in. I have it enabled for everyone as most of my members come for the drama.
EDIT: After looking into this further I only have the issue when using firefox browser.

I confirm I see the same issue only on firefox... it works in IE, Chrome, and Opera...
Will work on it.

Thanks Iguana for noticing this. I had a typo in the template with an extra "single quote" (') character in the div name, apparently firefox doesn't like that.
I have fixed this and uploaded a new version, 1.35 with the bug fix.
Just install as normal with "Allow Overwrite" set to "Yes."

It will be fantastic for those members who tend to get into arguments and report another member's posts for little or no reason. You tell them to put the guy on ignore, they say they did it, and next thing you know, it starts up again because they really didn't put him on ignore. This way, it can be checked.
I know there are other mods that a mod or admin can add a member to another member's ignore list, and I do have that ability. I just prefer to keep that as a last resort.
I'm surprised this mod isn't more popular actually!
And thanks again, Chris for pointing this one out to me!

It's a great little hack and one that I think should be a basic feature of vbulletin in the first place. On a board I used to moderate, I was often asked by members is they were on this or that member's ignore list and was unable to answer them. Now I can check someone's list or I can make all the ignore lists public. A great companion to this hack is this one that hides quoted posts from ignored members...
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=268202
Now if only someone would make a hack where a member can see a list of who's ignore lists they are on. :D
