Has there ever been any comparisons of server load between Vbulletin and other forum software, assuming a similar number of posters and similar features?

I know that this might be impossible due to the large differences between customizations of forums, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone has some data comparing the efficiency of the basic forum software.

Is VBulletin or one of the others able to be more responsive with less server horsepower? Which software requires the least amount of server horsepower to run effectively?

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

the software does not as matter as much as you think. yes good queries etc make a difference but IMO the powerful thing u can do is caching. I personally have my site setup so that all guests data is cached for 10 minutes. Having this on something like the CMS which does not get updated enough thats 1 set of queries to the DB every 10 minutes for 1000's of users.

I personally have an IPB and VB license and they both use caching very effectively. I dont have any experience with phpbb.
