**This issue is still not resolved!

After editing with the source code I found out that this is the culprit..

If I delete this code which is line1 in the source code:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

Then the whole page works, including the vertical allign.

Unfortunatley this is just bbcode so I can't delete it from there...
What do I do?

Is there a way I can edit a template or something so all of the pages have this doctype instead?

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 3.2 Final//EN">

.Why is vbulletin using out of date doctypes anyways. The new 3.2 ones have all up-to-date html code running properly? haha >:)

EDIT: (ORIGINAL POST BELOW)

I made a simple html document where I had text, then a button, then more text.
I used the css property, "vertical-allign", to move the button down... it worked.

Now, when I tried to make a bbcode to do this the button doesn't move down. I copy and pasted the source code of the post with the bccode into a new html document and viewed it and the button was lowered! So I think vbulletins posting div tags or styles or something is messing with it? I've also tried position:relative;bottom:#; to move it down and it works in html but not in bbcode??? Any ideas/workarounds???

Here is the basic idea for the bbcode:

some text here<button style="vertical-allign:-10;">param text here</button>some text here

actual bbcode replacement:

<button style="vertical-allign:-10;">{param}</button>

Thanks!

***EDIT: Also on an interesting note, vbulletin will accept something like the built in css values, example:
vertical-allign:sub
But when I change "sub" to something even lower than subscript, such as "-20em" or "-10" it's as if the code doesn't even run through at all...
vertical-allign:-10

Sorry, that was a typo... in the real code there is no extra "l"

You think XHTML 1 is older than HTML 3.2?

HTML 3.2 is W3C's specification for HTML, developed in early `96 together with vendors including IBM, Microsoft, Netscape Communications Corporation, Novell, SoftQuad, Spyglass, and Sun Microsystems.
http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html32

This specification defines the Second Edition of XHTML 1.0, a reformulation of HTML 4 as an XML 1.0 application, and three DTDs corresponding to the ones defined by HTML 4.
...
W3C Recommendation 26 January 2000, revised 1 August 2002

This is not an out of date DOCTYPE. XHTML is different from HTML.

This article (http://phrogz.net/css/vertical-align/index.html) may help explain to you why vertical-align isn't working for you. Have you tried putting the button in a DIV yet and aligning the DIV with the inline style?

Oh. XHtml..
Anyways, if I put it in a div tag than the div will go to the next line.. I need it on the same line???
