For the lite (free) version I think you should let people use their own image.

Well its tough to know what your doing wrong if you don't give us your url. :P Makes sure its a PHP Widget. That you place the code in the "Config"

Also, that default image - you can change. If theirs no images from the thread its pulling it will display the default image. It's included in the Lite download and changeable to anything. :)

The lite version shows a max of 2 at a time if thats what your asking.

Also you need to use the and between your .jpg images the same way youd want any image to show. If the image shows in your thread and in your RSS feed it will work. It won't work if you add images after the RSS feed parses your threads. So before you post a thread, make sure it has the images you want.


If your a normal vBulletin user, this mod uses the same installation process as any other mod. Its fairly easy to install. :)

$123 for pro? Whoa.. There are a lot of free slideshow apps that can be easily implemented in VB. The only difference between this one and the free one's would be on the free ones you would have to explain the image, description and url in an XML file, while this one simply pulls it from your RSS feed.

Not a bad plugin but no way should the ability to add more than 2 images or branding free cost $123.

This works for images that use BB code or (image tags). Im not quite sure if attachments work, if they parse into RSS then yes. Remember it must show in your rss feed for it to show in the slider. I've used images from image shack and hosting sites and it worked perfectly.

Thats a static slider - doesn't change after you build it. In the past we developed these custom static ones but really it was lame because it would be too time consuming to update every time you wanted it to look different. ForumSlider updates automatically with no maintainance.

We have hidden discount codes around the site if you search through the blog. Also there will be more features in pro as time comes including multiple styles, size adjustments, mini navigation and other forum enhancements. It took a lot of time to develop and integrate this into vBulletin. It's not for every site, but if your trying to go big with your website, or already have lots a guests and visitors, then it's worth it.

@Juggernaut: Thanks :). Currently is just parses the XML files and looks for <img>...</img> tabs. With vBulletin using the BBCode [img] should automatically convert that into <img>...</img> when you post a topic or thread.

It works with just vbforums4.x as well. Documentation will come soon for that. With just a forum, it requires a slight different installation.

Also it works with vBSEO.

Try letting the slider run for 5-10minutes before giving up on the rss feed. If the rss feed works, so should the slider. It has a built in cache.

As you can see, your RSS feed isn't working. If that doesn't work, then the mod won't feed content into the slider.

It's currently $60, please there is a discount code avaliable on the site for an additional 10% off. Making it $54, which is more than a fair price - it would probably cost you at least 5 times that if you were to privatey pay someone to make it. Also, if setup correctly, this is stable. And if you happen to have any trouble with setting it up, we provide email support and will respond within 24 hours of receiving an email.

Please do keep in mind, most the problems people are having are within their own vBulletin setup, not the plugin.

We'll I'm currently using it on 2 of my sites, and many others are using it on their sites with no problems. As a product, no one is forcing you to buy it. Furthermore - The price does not exceed $100 even with the copyright. Either way, this mod thread is about the lite version only

Hey all, just giving a nice update. We've been using this on our main site: http://buypoe.com, and a bunch of others have been using it with no problems.

Errors tend to occur when you put the wrong rss feed, or an unsupported rss feed into the vboptions for forumslider.

So try multiple types of rss feeds. The one I use is:

http://buypoe.com/external.php?do=rss&type=newcontent&sectionid=1&days=120&count=10

so replace buypoe.com with your url.

phpbb and smf versions - we want to release, were still determining if theres enough of a demand for them.


Another common error we see with people is there images aren't being placed into the slider. You cannot used attached images, they must be bbcoded because this mod uses data from your rss feed, so whatever shows there, will be displayed.

It currently does/does not support other languages. We have not tested this.

Okay, I recently got that error, and that is usually after an upgrade.

All you have to do is, take the php code supplied with the package, and open the php widget and add it again and save.

The way to do it is keep the image close to the top of the thread. They must also be in the thread before "saving it" in said thread. So if you were to promote it to the front, make sure the image is at the top of the thread before promoting it, as the rss page does not refresh after page edits. Be sure there are no smiley faces before your image as those count as images. Also attached images don't go into RSS Feeds. use image BBcode and it works perfectly.

This mod works great for me! great job with this one...

I do however have a problem with some of the images being pulled into the slider. The text will pull in but some of the images will not. I'm my best to evaluate why some and not others. When i promote the images are there but not coming into the slider. I'm wondering if it has to do with the images being a link that was embedded vs a image attachment. Not sure just yet I'm still trying to compare. If someone has figured this out please advise.

Edit: This is the problem with some of the images not showing up in the slider. All the ones that show have been put in with a url. All the ones that do not show have been put in through the image upload. Is there a way to fix this problem?

I had not yet removed this component from my site today, and found it to be defaced. After some research, it seems that all sites running this component have been defaced.

I WOULD ADVISE YOU TO REMOVE IT IMMEDIATELY

Buypoe.com (The developer's site) and other's using it have all been defaced.
*edited out* (which also uses Forum Slider) has also been defaced.
Nemesisguild.net another Forum Slider has also been defaced.

All three sites show a picture of David Ahmad ( of Forum-Skins.com) modified to look like he is doing something obscene.

I am not a fan of the guy or his work, but someone else seems to be very angry with him. It seems there is a long-running feud in one of his forums.

I see that the hack is gone now as i put it back and the redirect is no longer taking over my page where the slider is.

I have a question for the knowledgable. i want to have this monitor more than one thread on my site but i do not know how to write the RSS Link to do so. I can make it monitor one thread but have not figured out how to tell it to do mor than one. Does anyone know how?

Very sorry guys. Sometime last night it was was hacked by someone from buypoe.com testing the security of forumslider. Some of the members of bp are very smart, but very immature. The person who hacked it did have deep knowledge of the software on the inside.

With some help, it's now patched. Nothing on your side that you have to fix. Once again, sorry for the inconvenience

One of the guys who helped code it left a c99 shell on the server and he used it later to access the files. It was more of a "stupid" prank, than a hack

Yeah, pissed off is right. Why is anything that goes through my slider being run through your site? I don't like depending on other people's servers for this very reason. Sorry but I can't recommend anybody shelling out the money that I did for this thing while stuff has to get piped through your server to make it function.

Well I was pretty pissed about it too. The reason for it running through our servers is to protect the code. Half the software code is on our servers, the other half is on your server. It's sole purpose is fight piracy/copycats

vBSEO has a similiar functionality as well to prevent illegal uses of the software. Even the lite version runs through our server as well. It is on a dedicated server so it will be up 99% of the time.

Yeah, looks like a great product. I would have bought it without blinking if it wasn't partly hosted on your site. But I can surely understand the need to protect against piracy.

Yeap the fact that your site was hacked and the fact that you are insisting that it be partially run from your site now and in the future is a deal breaker for me. I spent the money for the Ultimate version but I won't be running it or recommending it for any more sites.

Also I found removing the padding above the cms improves the slider look to a cleaner look. You can do this by changing the css. Perhaps more indeth instructions on how to do this soon.

Most Likely in version v.109 the Lite version will be partially run by our servers, though the ultimate server will be the complete code that does not validate through out system.
