Hi everybody.

I installed this mod: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=2137735

I tried to it and then something very strange happened. After I removed it, no user could post anywhere. They kept getting the same "you don't have permission" message.

I've checked all the permissions, and everything is right. Nothing should be keeping the users from posting, but it's happening and I have no idea why!

Even when I upload the mod again, and configure it, it keeps getting the same message. I know this should be asked to the author of the mod, but if its causing problems even after it's removed, then something very weird it's happening.

I've been using vBs for years and I've never seen anything like this!

Plese, I need some help before there's a rion on the forum!

Try disabling first and see if that holds up, if not try uninstalling again and then afterwords check to see if any of the plugins are still present in the plugin manager it's right below manage products in the admincp etc.

Do you remove it correctly? You need to go through the install steps and do everything backwards - this means remove any files, any template edits, any database edits, andy file edits, any products, everything. You may even need to 'read' the install code and verify that anything done in the install was undo during the uninstall.

Have you read the thread to see if others have had the same issue?

I've tried all that, and I can't manage to find what's wrong.

It's something permissions related, but when I check the permissions of the specific usergroup, everything seems right, at least the forum shows them as they were supposed to be.

This is installed by uploading the product, nothing else. I've disabled the plugins and still, no change. It says it changes the DB, could it be because of that?

On the mod thread I didn't saw anyone with the same problem. And I'm starting to panic, as my users aren't exactly understanding...

Thanks

Did you go into the usergroup manager, check the permissions, and just save the usergroup to get the bitfields to rebuild?

You could always go back to the database backup you made before you installed the mod. The users may be unhappy about losing some posts, but it's better than not being able to post at all.

I've tried that too, to no avail :(

I can't use backups, only the owner of the forum, and he is currently unavailable. Besides, it might turn out that the last backup is from 3 months ago or something... Hence my desperation...

I've tried every single thing I could think of and asked 2 or 3 other vB admins I know and no one has a clue.

I'm starting to think that my next option is to lie in a bathtub and sly my wrists :S

Well don't do that for pete's sake just spend some time away from it then come back.

Long story short it's something your overlooking either a plugin is still awol somewhere (check plugin manager again), a setting is wrong (admincp/settings/options OR usergroup options OR forum manager and check for any forum rules settings there), or it simply did not uninstall properly and there's something in your database conflicting. I would have another look in all five areas and make sure your not overlooking something.

Well, I disabled all the products and plugins, and guess what? Another mod was in conflict with this one...

Thank you very much for your help, I'm truly grateful.

Merry Christmas :)
