Hi!

I am building my first Vbull and was wondering how you create categories within forum that show up as little words and opposed to big bulky child forum looking thingys!

I want them to look like--> http://www.theattractionforums.com/

Check out the 4th forum down called "Library" > "Classic Writings" and then look below at how neat and organized the sub cats are. It look like

Library (Forum)
Classic Writings (Description)

-LSI Newsletters -Nick Savoy -Dueasdf
-Fader -Braddock -Blahdd
-Mr. M -Rokker -Exmfd

Also, how do you upload plugins?

ThankS!

Play with the settings in vboptions > Forum Listings Display Options > Depth of Sub-Forums (and the others)

And from the manual - Adding or Editing a Plugin (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/add_plugin)

So it says that you need Php code but I see a lot of plugins with zip files that presumably must be uploaded to a file manager.

What folder do you put the plugins in after unzipping them?

If your answer is the 'root', what is the root folder for vbulletin titled in filezilla?

Thanks!

To upload and install plugings, download the plugin you want, unzip it, if it simply a singl .xml file all you need to do is unzip it to your desktop, then go to your vbulletin admincp>plugins and products>product manager>click add product at the bottom, them you will see import product, click that and choose your plugins .xml. and upload.

If it is more complicated plugin you may have to install things to your root, if you are only running vbulletin cms on your site, then your root is probably 'public_html' uploading it there should work. Some plugins may come with multiple folders you need to upload like 'images' 'includes' when you see this simply upload the entire folder into the according folder of your vbulletin..

There should be more easy tutorials on such things but around here, everyone is presumed to be a vbulletin pro so getting easy answers to the simpler things like this often go overlooked..

Thanks preemz10314! Specifically I am trying to set up the Facebook Connect function and having a bear of a time.

I think maybe this is one of those complicated plugins that requires multiple installations. Do you know about this Facebook Connect plugin?

You are right about everyone here being pros. There are no quick and easy answers for beginners!

Thanks for understand. Please let me know if you know anything about the FB Connect app :):p

Facebook connect is a default option in vB4. You should not need to install any plugins for it. There are instructions in the manual for it Enabling Facebook (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/facebook_enable) and Facebook Options (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/options_facebook)
