Can someone explain what the API setting in the ACP settings is?
You don't have an API key generated yet. Please click the following button to generate one. The API key is required for clients to connect to the forum. Once a key is generated, you can't change it in future.Allow clients to connect to vBulletin API.

Also please remember to generate an API key here to get the API work.

this forum is for vb mods, it sounds like you have a question about the default setup.

The API key in the admincp is only for use with the not-yet-out mobile applications.

Ahh, so I can happily ignore it.

See, having it there without any real explanation of it gives the impression it might be important. Now I know it isn't :)
