User name changes are now allowed at vbulletin.org :)

Please note that this is applicable to licensed members only.

The unlicensed will not have this ability, and changes are saved for history and display purposes.

If you would like your user name changed, please contact one of the administrators via PM (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/info.php?do=staff).

User name changes should follow these guidelines (subject to change):

does not contain license information
does not contain domain.tld name
does not contain email address
does not violate copyright issues
change is not requested too often*
administrator has final discretion

* Not more than once per 90 days

Please choose only one admin to contact and allow at least 48 hours for the change to take effect.

Posting such requests in the forums will be ignored; post removed. Please PM one of the admins.

Thank you!

Okay, what is a .tld? I looked it up on Wiki and still don't undertand what you mean. Do you mean no one should have a username like mysite.com or mysite.net? I don't think that should be allowed either because it's cheesy. They should adopt the same practice at vb.com.

Thanks for that.

I just had mine changed.

Worried, just pm the admin if you would like your username to be changed.

It means your name must not contain your domain name. TDL meaing .com or .org ect. (I think)

So what led to the change in policy? Just curious from an admin standpoint. A lot of boards allow it, but I've always been strict about name changes on my forum whereas I'm pretty loose about most everything else.

I think he has it setup for 3 months

Anyways, this might help those trying to hide from a scam or something by changing their names.

We changed it now because we decided to re-evaluate our policy on it.

As the notice says, once every three months *but* the admins have final say. If someone comes back to change it every three months, we may finally just say they've done it enough and it's time to just settle on a name and leave it. I really can think of no reason why someone would need to change it every three months.
