What does 'Marking As Installed' do ?

* It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified by us whenever new updates are available.

Taurus, what kind of avatar is it? Custom or stock? Stored in filesystem or database? The code cycles through and checks different scenarios so knowing the type of avatar will help troubleshoot the problem.

Adds Threads with link to search for user threads
Adds ACP option to disable reputation
Adds ACP option to set max width and height of Avatar

This should also fix the problem of looking for the avatar in the wrong directory, let me know if it doesn't.

Thanks for the donation and for letting me use your site to test.
I figured out that vB doesn't like me using a couple floating div's there for some reason so I had to resort to tables. I got it working and looking good on your site. I rolled it back though so you wouldn't have to deal with reverting the template and all if I release another one and you need to update.

Let me know if anything is still off.

I'm not seeing the mod auto update. The same user has been displayed for over 24 hours, and only changes to the next user if I hit save in the mod cp settings.

There is a scheduled task setup to run at midnight every night. Trying running the schedule task from the ACP and see if it changes.

Permission are not working right.. users can see the Most Active In (forum) and as an Admin I might be active in private forums.. I know they can't get there when clicking it.. but not nice to even see the private forum.

Yeah I logged in as a user and I could see my Admin account in spotlight with private forum listed.. of course I couldn't go to it, but it is listed and that forum is not supposed to be known it exists by anyone other than few SMODs

I just installed 4.1.0 pl2 and it worked fine. Can you manually set it to a user you know has good info? It looks like it's not picking anyone and the field is empty?

I also added the ability to specify if it refreshes the user hourly, daily or weekly. Fixed a problem with the scheduled task when run on vB3 and added the option to put it in the sidebar.

It's my first addition of a sidebar so please test it out before you put it on a production system. It worked fine on the 2 dev systems I tried it on but you never know :)

Yes and no. There is a template hook down there but any data you attach to that hook will just show below on the left side. I don't think I could find a way to display it on the right side without messing around with the FORUMHOME template.

Can you post a screenshot? Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling it?
I'm not sure what you see, an empty block, messed up text, no block at all?

I just fixed it, the script was thinking there were custom fields set when there weren't.
You will most likely have to refresh the sideblock after the code change since it's cached.
ACP->Forums & Moderators->Forum Blocks Manager
Click Edit next to Spotlight User and then click Save
That should fix it.

Try the 1.5.2 I just uploaded. I couldn't replicate the error but I switched the function around so it shouldn't give the error if you don't have anything selected.

Did you have it set to weekly before? It might of put a future time in the field. Just go to the settings
ACP->Settings->Options->Spotlight General Options
At the bottom is the Spotlight Next Cron Run,just set that to 1 and run the scheduled task.

That time is 3:51pm GMT today, so if that was an hour from when you ran it then yes :)
The scheduled task will run every hour and log an entry, so you can check back in a couple hours and read the log to see if it keeps running.

Are you talking about how to add a custom field to vB or how to add a custom field that you have in vB to the mod?

Try with the 1.6.1. I was fixing the filesystem custom avatar and I messed up the other types. It should work now.

Also, if you look at the scheduled tasks log, you should see entries in there for the spotlight script

It looks like you have something that sets that as the default if the user doesn't have an avatar? I saw several users that showed that image for the avatar and profile image.

The one user I saw that had an avatar looks like it's stored in the db.

I made an update with 1.6.2
Hopefully fixed the avatar issues with the different installation layouts
Fixed bbcode not parsing on custom fields
Switched code to use existing data so was able to eliminate all but 2 custom db queries, should be better on performance now.

I'll take a look at the code. I'll probably end up cutting the text short at a certain character length if it's longer. The only other option is forcing it not to wrap, which I don't want to do on a sideblock since that'll squeeze out your forums.

I understand now. I didn't really design it to work that way and it would be a formatting nightmare to support considering the number of places you could put it and the style changes that would need to be tweaked for different locations.
You could just create your own template hook in your template, replace mine in the file and achieve the same result.

It sounds like you didn't upload the files correctly. You should have a file at /public_html/forum/dbtech/spotlight/hooks/cache_templates.php

Ok the problem was I have upgraded my site to VPS account and the shared account was suspended and the files to this mod were on the shared account. You helped me bigtime with that bro thank you. I had installed this mod after the upgrade began and with the dns finally were pointing properly the mods I installed while in transition were carried over. So i went in and installed it again but like i said before the files that were in the upload folder went to the shared account and not the VPS upgraded one.

It was my issue and not yours bro... Thank you for the response because that is what led me to find the problem.

You could try to manually run the scheduled task. It's called Dragonbyte-Tech: Spotlight - Pick Random User
It will also create a scheduled task log entry every time it runs with a message of what it did.

The CMS uses different hooks then the forumhome, so most likely the code isn't running to select the user. I'll look at add the option to have it on a CMS widget for the next release.

Check the scheduled task log. It should be logging an entry every time it runs.

Ok in ACP, Settings/Dragonbyte-Tech: Spotlight - General Options look for Custom Profile Fields and ass them there.

Add the custom profile field id's that would like to be displayed. For multiple fields, separate them with a commaFor example, if you want to display the data from custom profile field43 and field68, enter 43,68

Are you using it as a forum sidebar? If you do, any changes you make aren't seen until it's recached

As the description says, it's automatically set by a cron job. Only change that field if you want to manually set the spotlight user.

It looks like the translation has wrapped the text in the field. Since it's in the forum sidebar it's hard to adjust the field size. I'd say either put it in another location or modify the translation to say something different that's shorter.

The text is a phrase, you could edit it as you need.
ACP->Languages & Phrases->Search In Phrases

What about running the cron, I think it needs to be run for it to show.

Have you also tried using the Clear System Cache link under vBulletin's Maintenance group, in case your forum block was cached?

Could anyone suggest a way to load this mod twice or perhaps a way to adjust the forum sidebar to do what I want?

Here's what I want.

Forum Side Bar Block #1 - User Spotlight - This rotates through all the members and spotlights only members from specific usergroups.

Forum Side Bar Block #2 - Vendor Spotlight - This rotates through all the vendors in my vendor usergroup only and spotlights only people in this usergroup.

I'd like to have forum block #1 rotate every couple hours and forum block #2 daily.

FWIW... I have this mod working perfectly on my site right now. Just looking for a way to have it do the double function that I am looking for.

Is there a way to do this?
