Grids / Layouts ??? Im lost

Hi guys

I'm new to this whole Vbulletin thing. I have searched but I cant seem to find a tutorial or grids and layouts (like a Dummys guide)

If I build a grid and then a layout on that grid. How do I assign it to my front page as an example. I'm sorry if its a dumb question but its driving me nuts.
