Lite Feature List:
Advanced Battle System: A battle system more advanced than any ever before seen on a forum RPG. Can you show a screenshot?

A bug in the installer will have prevented the modification from functioning correctly.
If you receive the following error:

MySQL Error : Unknown column 'parts' in 'field list'
---
when creating a new "Starter Monster", please re-download all files, re-upload them to the webserver, then run the following script:
forumonadmin.php?do=finalise&version=103
It will not produce any output, but it will finish instantly so you are safe to close the page once you see the footer of the page.

Have you or vBulletin 4.0.8 made any alterations to the default AdminCP style? Or the /cpstyles/ folder in general? Like moving it, etc.

No I am using a custom Admin style... Its also not in the AdminCP folder so i didn't know it was pulling stuff from it..

If you place a copy of your style inside the /cpstyles/ folder, that should sort it for you :)
Try to check out the demo on your forum but see lots of broken images.That's just because we haven't uploaded new area backgrounds since we've been testing all previous betas and alphas, nothing to worry about :)

No what i meant was your file for the admin page forum forumonadmin.php is not in the admin page... My default admin style is is the default style but i myself am set to another style..
edit: nvm i just changed myself to the Admin default and for some reason it is all white... sorry now i just gotta find out where my default admin style went to :P
Edit Edit: I looked at it and it is trying to pull CSS from a CPstyle called lightblue?

I cant seem to add species. Everything else seems to work however the species fails after saying it was successful.

I cant seem to add species. Everything else seems to work however the species fails after saying it was successful.I've identified the problem that's causing that, there will be a hotfix over the next day or so.
For now, you can work around it by clicking Repair Cache in the top-most menu block and it will show you the species you have added.
Once you've done that, editing the species you've created will also cause any new "invisible species" to show up.

Yea i worked that out actually.
Now i can do everything. But when i do add species and repair Cache and try access game page i get a white page only?

Hotfixes:
* Breeding will now work correctly
* Adding a new species will now also show the newly added species in the Manage Species interface.
* Adding a new enemy directly to an area will no longer produce an error message.
* Minor changes to accomodate vBulletin 3 version
* Admin Notes can now be edited as intended

Only 3 with the lite version (2 starters and one combo) Pro version has 4 starters & 6 combos, and there is an optional addon pack available which adds anothe 4 starters and 6 combos.

There is already an evolution system of sorts in place. Every combination of 2 different monsters, when bred, have a chance of created an evolved (combo) monster, which is a all new body and uses parts from either parents and can result in some pretty awesome creations =).
We felt the breeding system was the best way to implement evolutions, since otherwise evolutions would be weak compared with newly bred monsters =)

This is an amazing mod that you should be really proud of. :3 But I have a quick question, can we change the images (the world map and the other images?)Changing World Map / battleground images is fine, but changing the monster images is strongly not recommended due to the fact that they have been specifically crafted to fit together - it's a daunting task, but if you feel your graphics designer is up for it then by all means :)

The best RPG system for any forum software to date was ADR for phpBB. That system was so advanced it was awesome.
From the looks of things, this could be the next best thing. I'll be keeping a close eye on it :) Especially when quests and NPC's come into the mix.

Something like this would likely be very awkward to implement in the current system which is not designed around editing current monsters. In addition it would require significantly more in the way of artwork (which is expensive :P).
Essentially if we went down that route we would have to scrap the ability for people to choose and customise individual body parts and just force them to have pre-created monsters like in pokemon, which isn't really a route we want to go down (customisation and users feeling like the pet "belongs" to them are two of our bigger goals)

Now I am having a problem with the world map. My designer edited it and all and it is a JPEG and roughly the same size. I uploaded it to my server with the same name as the original (Deleted the original of course) and now it won't show up in the Control Panel. Do you know why?

I would pay just for the option of not having all the different body parts.

The standard Pro version comes with a total of 10 different monsters (4 base and 6 combination monsters) There is also an addon pack with another 10 different monsters (4 base and 6 combination).
The end user customisation has been a core feature of Forumon from the beginning, so we won't be changing the system away from the current method, sorry.

Im having a problem with the worldmap.
When I select the towns/cities on the worldmap they show up completely different than where I intended. (look at attachments)
They seem to show up about 230 pixels higher than where I put them in the admin section.
Any thoughts as to how this could occur? As you see them in the worldmap is the lowest I can place them, but I want to place them lower than that, which is impossible...

That's a known issue with certain skins that are being coded incorrectly, please switch display methods in the world map options so that the towns appear on the bottom, beneath the map.

The monsters, the fight, and the world map, they all look like they were made for 5 year old children, dont get me wrong it's a good idea, but you should base this on a game, like wow or lineage, or guild wars.. Because i would like to see a real browser game for forums, cuz there is nothing like that, rather than a game with "pokemon" and teletabies monsters. I know this is still in works, and because of that i will keep an eye on this.

If you were to share with us some insight into how you would integrate something akin to World of Warcraft into a webpage (and have it actually integrated into the forum as opposed to just another Flash game) then we would take it into consideration for a future upgrade :)

I'm interested in seeing this turn into something wonderful. Community based games such as this are badly needed on our forums.
Way back in the glory days of the BBS, there were "door" games, which allowed for the community to interact with one another. Some of the very best included Tradewars 2002, Legend of the Red Dragon and Barren Realms Elite, to name just a few.
These games kept people coming back. Users would dial in, play their turns on their game of choice, and then jump into discussions in the forums. It really helped the BBS to thrive, and it further developed the sense of community. Users would form guilds in Tradewars, or take on other bulletin boards on Barren Realms. The impact on the community was incredible.
I'm hoping that this game can somehow recapture a piece of that magic. And maybe, just maybe, more like it will follow.
Once I hear that this gaming is running smoothly, I intended to give it a shot. In the meantime, it would be encouraging if there was a place to actually play it, so as to see how it is shaping up. There probably is a demo somewhere that I'm not aware of.

ive installed the lite version and have being going through the settings setting it up, i was adding the new starter monster, when i got this error

Hi Fillip,
first of all thanks for the mod. Some of my mates are really into it and try to do a nice game :)
But when they tried to add a Move as Buff, they figured out, that its not saved properly. Its always resettet to Attack. Maybe its missing at the current version?

I don't believe it's been properly implemented for Moves yet - only Items can currently function as buffs.
We will correct this and properly allow Moves to also be Buffs in the next feature version :)

First off, I'm a huge fan of DBTech stuff. The best way to keep your site stable is to use products from one supplier, and you guys pretty much have it covered......good on ya !!!!
While I'm about 40 years PAST the pokemon fad, I might give this a looksee.
I've added your logo as an advert on our site, and listed the DBTech mods we use. I'm am currently going to change my other mods to DBTech as well.
I was wondering if you were thinking of incorporating vbActivity and vbShop into this as well? Perhaps so the users would have to purchase monsters or breeding? This would make those who play this visit the other locations of your site even more so they can gain the points they need for purchases.

Grant your usergroup the Can Administer X permissions under the forumon admin permissions, then click "Forumon RPG AdminCP" in the bottom right corner.

Very good mod but takes some setting up, would have been nice with option to use defaut settings and then add a few extra setting and monsters etc.
Gonna be weeks before anyone gets to play it

I think most would just give up on this completely before pay for pro version.
I have nothing against the option to pay for pro for extra features,
but it wouldn't hurt to start this mod off with maybe 2-3 started monsters and 2-3 enemies etc just for example sake. it's like i'm setting this up blind without a clue what i'm doing :) God knows how the games going to progress with my settings.

Feedback noted. There are quite a few changes we will be making to the mod (lite and pro) this summer hopefully, it needs some TLC xD

It depends on what exactly you mean by fully customizable - i'd suggest giving it a try to see. You can make a story from scratch but you can't change the underlying mechanics.

It's *technically* possible since you can replace the images. The images fit together in very particular ways though, so it would take an immense amount of artwork to pull it off.

The Pro version with its "Quadripeds" addon comes with a preset, however the Lite version does not support importing presets.

Why not just allow the import of presets into the light version and then sell presets on their own.
I gave up with this mod as I have far too much time looking after the forums without creating monsters and dragons lol.
not sure what extra the pro version offers but I wouldn't pay $60 for it. I would however pay $20 for a set of characters/ maps etc to start off the light version.

Only thing I couldn't chmod from the instructions was enemy folder as it didn't exist from the zip, I copied the monster table and renamed it.
Can you fight other users monsters? aka an arena.
Can you create your own creature types like dragons and golems? Say I wanted to create angels and demons, each with their own species.
Can admin limit the heals per day, or battles per day?

Is this RPG engine/game based off of Inferno Technology? The map icons has similarities. I still have the files pets, map, items, etc.

No, nothing is missing.
You will need to set up your system, as the Lite version does not come with any default data nor any way to import an existing configuration.
The manual, which can be found here: http://www.dragonbyte-tech.com/docs/forumon/ can assist you with your initial setup.

Regular Updates: New features such as NPCs, Shops, Quests and more will be added on a regular basis.
^I have not seen any of these features added ever since the mod has launched like 3 or 4 years ago? It seem's you guys are more worried about the most newest one you made, than older addons. For example, the newest ones you make i see tons and tons of updates for, but when new ones are made you will forget the current ones in favor of any new ones you made.
Now maybe forumon just has not gotten as big as you hoped it would be and don't feel it is worth putting time into it in which i can understand however maybe it's not big for a reason? I think if you guys really got down to business, get someone who has created online rpg games and worked together to sculpt a mod that is actually worth it to these people then you might see a rise in popularity with it. Unfortunately we cannot afford to just commit months of time and resources to an unpopular mod. I actually understand your position, and i am one to speak my mind on how i might feel about something. I agree with you that a system like this ain't as big of a thing as it once was, so there is no good reason for you to invest so much into it. It's just kind of depressing to see such a good idea for a community go down a dark road, but some may call it progress. I would like to see this finished up with pvp and questing, and then it would be complete imo but on the other hand i totally understand your position.
