It turned your forum off or the mod? When you first install the mod, you will need to create a category and configure each of the modules for it to work. You also need to edit the settings, specifically the Path To Downloads one. This is the path to your downloads folder. To get this to work, create a folder called downloads outside of your public_html folder then edit the above setting to match this.

For example, I use: /home/david/downloads. Yours will be different that this but will have the same structure.

I hope this makes sense. Let me know if it doesn't and I will try to assist you further.

This has been resolved on legion!'s site. For future reference, after installation you will need to go into the manage modules section in the AdminCP and configure each of the modules listed.

Hello, I was wondering... does buying 'pro' mean that you can have download links "password protected" ?

Hello, I was wondering... does buying 'pro' mean that you can have download links "password protected" ?
What it means is that when you visit vbdownloads.php?do=download or vbdownloads.php?do=file, if the download requires a password a page will popup with an area to input the password. Once this is entered correctly you will be able to view the page as normal. I hope this makes sense.

I'm using this one as a test before perhaps upgrading to pro.

Now I got into the settings and it's asking me the path to my downlaods directory and I'm not sure what to do there. Please kn ow that I'm new to vb and not sure about intalling mods yet.

The problem is that my site I'm using for testing vb is an add on so I don't see the full path in core ftp. Do I have to set this or is it automatically set to find files in the folder?

Oh dear, crashed my site. Are there any instal instructions for this? I don't think I did it right

Hey,

You can use the attached file to find your directory. Upload it to your public_html/www folder and run it. The just alter it to wherever you have your downloads folder (I recommend having your downloads folder outside of the public_html/www folder).

For example, my path is:
/home/david/downloads

while the path to my forum is
/home/david/public_html/forum

If you need further assistance please do not hesitate to ask.

On looking at what you have in your example I do have the correct path. I don't know what you mean by having my downloads folder outside the public_html folder, it's a host gator site and I'm not sure it would owrk like that. Sorry for being so stupid with this, I've just never done this before. Do I have to make the folder? Or do I move the one you gave me for it?

I think I'd really need install instructions for dummies if you could give me some.

I took the db tech folder out to move it to outside the publi_html and I can't get up another level with core ftp, it's an add on site. I'll try moving it to the folder of the main site

I'm now getting this error

Warning: require_once([path]/dbtech/downloads/hooks/cache_templates.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/includes/class_bootstrap.php(1280) : eval()'d code on line 69

The only thing you need outside of public_html is the /downloads/ folder. Everything else goes to where your forum is (the folder with /admincp /images /includes etc).

Updated the zip:

No version change at this time, just some minor bug fixed.

- Module configuration warning should only should up in vbdownloads.php now.
- Fixed a CSS bug
- Fixed a bug in vBShout Integration that caused it to link to the wrong file.

To upgrade just reupload all the files and reimport the product file setting overwrite to yes.

** Updated to 1.2.0 **

This version introduces a number of exciting features into the mod that we hope you will enjoy.

Changes:
Post to Thread*** - Allows administrators to select which forums they would like new threads to go to on a per-category basis with configurable messages.

Delay Downloads*** - This will allow you to add a delay to downloads per usergroup. For example, if you put a 10 second delay on the Registered Users usergroup, when they click a file they will need to wait 10 seconds before it is available. There is also an optional advertisement option that is configurable in the vBulletin Options section of your administration panel.

Category Images - This will remove the default text based category names with an image of your choice allow for a much nicer looking downloads homepage.

Searchable Area - This is a central location where users can view all downloads based on a certain criteria. For example, they could view all files based on the amount of downloads they have.

Profile Tab - This will add a profile tab to user's profiles which will display all of their uploads.

Notification on comment *** - This feature will give users an alert when another user has commented on their upload.

Those marked with *** are pro only features.

This version also fixes an issue that was present with categories from the previous version. We hope you enjoy this update.

Are you sure all your files are 3.8.7? I look at my 3.8.7 init.php and it shows this at line 134

$db = new vB_Database_MySQLi($vbulletin);only the older init.php files had the code like this

$db =& new vB_Database_MySQLi($vbulletin);This is a vB thing, not a downloads thing. The downloads mod doesn't mess with the settings files.

Creating a link depends on the style and type of menu you have. I can give you a generic way to add a link to the nav if you want.

Installing this on vb 3.8.7. I used cuteftp to upload all the files, they are uploaded correctly I double checked. I get an error while uploading the product via admin cp. I used the xml file from the vb3 folder as I use version 3.8

Error I receive

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /var/www/vhosts/XXXXXXXX.com/httpdocs/forum/dbtech/ajaxthreads/includes/class_install.php on line 36

Granted I understand the error has something to do with line 36 in the class_install.php file so I opened it in DW and this is what is on line 36.

protected static $db_alter = NULL;

Looking at the other lines of code (knowing nothing about php) it all looks the same. Not sure what the issue is.

Any ideas?

Using the lite version but I don't have any options in the admin cp? The only options I have are under Vbulletin Options, and usergroups but there are no options to add categories etc.

On the download page I don't have an option to upload a file.

I am getting a "You don't have permission to access /forums/vbdownloads.php on this server."

When I go to save an upload.

Even when adding a file to upload it tells me "Error: Forbidden" next to the file.

ALL my permissions allow me to do everything, I am using the Administrator account, admin permissions for my user allow me to Can Administer vBDownloads. usergroup is all yes for the vbdownloads permissions and in the permissions for the catagory all 3 are checked as yes, view, download and upload. I can create and edit Extensions, I can create and edit Category. I can do everything with the Mod except upload files.

This started with version 2.3.0, version 2.3.1 does not fix this issue.

I'm really excited to see a supported Downloads mod for vB 3.8.

As soon as I get some time off from work, we will purchase the Pro version, I can see by the number of updates and support here that it will be money well spent. My boss is psyched too.

A couple of questions, please:
Now supports the vB3 version of DownloadsII (5.1.2) This means we can install vBDownloads and have all the existing download files from Downloads II imported into the new system? Will it be that easy, without losing stuff or breaking the existing system?

Is it possible to make the vBDownloads page format similar to the existing Downloads II style?

thanks,
