LAM - Quote Img & Video to URL

This product will change any and [VIDEO=] tags to [URL] tags when a post is quoted.


Installation

Download the attached .xml file
[I]product-LAM_QuoteImg2URL.xml
Install the product
AdminCP -> Plugins & Products -> Add/Import Product -> Import Product


Configuration

There is none!


Example

If someone has made a post like this;

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=122786&stc=1&d=1286983589

The image tag is converted to a URL when quoted, like this;

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=122787&stc=1&d=1286983589

So does this just lessen the load on your own site with the link to the image??Assuming the image has already been downloaded by the browser viewing the original post - no, caching should take care of that. What it does mean is if you have a thread with lots of pictures and a lot of people who are quoting just to reply things like "That's cool" then you don't end up with the same pictures appearing again, and again..... and again.

I find it makes a thread more coherent to view without the need to keep scrolling past quoted images to find something new.

I've done a very minor update to optimise the code. I'm not convinced it will make that much of a difference in real life, but it's an optimisation none the less.

Suggestion for future development; Have an editable field to list tags to be included (CSV list).
Users may have custom tags like [YouTube], [PDF], etc, that would also be good to convert in a quote.

That doesn't happen too often on my site hence it's not annoyed me enough to stop them being quoted. :) I'll try and get this added in but it's a little different to the others as I'll have to build a link for the attachment rather than just changing the [image]/[video] tags to [url].

Not work with 4.1.11My site is running 4.1.11 and it definitely is working.

how to update for all post??? It only work from now on.This product cannot do that. For reasons of optimisation this product alters the post before it is saved instead of before it is loaded. You could attempt to replace all the [image]/[video] tags in the database using a regex to find those within a [quote] block, but the potential to screw things up would make that too risky for me suggest it as a good idea!

There are no settings in the acp for this mod.
I noticed this only works with [IMG] tags,and i also installed this before and it did work neither so i uninstalled the mod.
Maybe you need to add the [IMG] bbcode in order to make this work.

I tried it on vb4.2.2 pl1, but didn't work. I was hoping if it works.

There is a dirty way how to hide images from quote using css display to none, but again it is not a good solution anyways!!
