Yes, I'm aware of that and a few other small things to be taken care of, just wanted to release it so that you guys get a chance to test it. Updates will follow soon, so stand by.
P.S. fixed this one, download a fresh copy of the xml installed to update.

I've been around for years, and I'm not going anywhere, SwollenCranium. I really do appreciate your donation, it's just that not everyone has learnt to at least say thank you for a free mod and try to be friendly in return. There's the weird attitude of a few members in private messaging that put me off.
Anyway, I posted a quick update to this mod so that it supports all vBulletin 4.0.x versions, including 4.0.8.
Hope you enjoy it and thanks for your interest!

I've made you a screenshot of a customized profile. As you can see the profile intro doesn't fit to the customized style. I had to change the CSS-Classes in your XML to get the profile intro readable because it's transparent. If you want to use the 50% opacity background you'll find it here (http://www.freggers-forum.de/ext/hg-opacity.png)

Now I'm wondering what I'm missing or causing it.
Are you by any chance assuming it doesn't work because of the Profile Intro Title and Profile Intro Text fields displaying for all usergroups on the Profile Edit page? That's because, as far as I'm aware, there isn't currently a way to filter custom fields by usergroups.
In this mod, restriction refers to the Profile Intro block display on the member profile page.

I'm hoping the attached screen show will explain my thinking better.
The user profile I provided as an example is JUST a normal user. I had hope that a normal users would not be able to use this or would not be able to share this on their profile page.

Hi Alex, thanks for a great mod..
I noticed that the Profile intro Title and Profile intro Text is repeated in the basic information part of the About Me page. Meaning when on the About Me page or to guests and not logged in members the information is on the page twice.
Should this be happening? If not can you tell me what to do to remove it in the lower section? And if so can you let me know the template to modify so I can remove it?
Thanks.. Mel

I'm still trying to understand how a few things work at vbulletin. Such as the custom stylesheet not being hooked if the admin setting to save css as file is turned on. Apparently, there is no fix for this yet, so a temporary fix for that would be moving all the contents from profile-intro.css to vbulletin.css if you wish to have the stylesheets to be saved to a file instead of load from the database.
Other two things are enablingg the img bbcode support and (per MelH's request) hiding the Profile intro Title and Profile intro Text data from the About Me tab on the Member page.
If someone can throw in some light for fixes here, I'm sure everyone will appreciate your input. I'll see what I can do as well.

Member profile intros are meant to be individual, so every member would have to set a title and intro text for the profile intro block. Blobal profile intro blocks could be achieved as simple template modifications though.

Could we do it the other way too?
Profile Intro Text not required for it to display.
Therefore if it's filled out the other will display. :)

That's great if a user does not fill one of the areas...
they will see what it does and more likely to use it.
Seeing it in action. ;)

I would like to see a kind of protection in order not to allow new users to be able to set their profile info until they reach a minimum number of posts. Otherwise it would result into a too dangerous way to post spam info.
Thanks a Lot

Something weird..
Meanwhile, I've discovered that extra phrases are added to the language database during the mod installation that are not necessary. It's frustrating but I can't seem to lookup for a quick fix, besides I've been working on a fresh build of this mod and would rather focus on that instead of trying to fix a version that will soon become obsolete.
What you can do to fix the problem in your case is click on every profile field in the admincp and update there, once saved it will display properly both in the backend and in the front end.
Hope this helps.

I have actually addressed the CSS issue in version 1.0.3 of the mod, and it's no longer a problem if you choose to save the stylesheets as files. Nonetheless, you're a hero, you know that? Your other quote pointed me to the right direction as far as the profile field phrases are concerned, and this is what you need to REMOVE from the .xml file before reimporting it:
<phrasetype name="Custom Profile Fields" fieldname="cprofilefield">
<phrase name="field5_desc" date="1285782758" username="phpdesk" version="1.0.0">Enter a short heading for the Profile Intro block</phrase>

<phrase name="field7_desc" date="1285782758" username="phpdesk" version="1.0.0">Enter a short heading for the Profile Intro block</phrase>

No, no need to remove anything, just reimport the xml product file and make sure "Allow Overwrite" is checked. This should fix the issue.

I'll try to install a test version of vB 4.0.2 and see what could possibly be going on there, although my schedule is quite tight at the moment (working on another mod).
Anyway, by the look of the screenshot, you're having the CSS-not-loading issue. Are you having your forum set up to store CSS as files? I have addressed this particular issue recently, and tested it working with the latest version of vBulletin. Is there a particular reason why you aren't upgrading yours?

Thanks, I hope someone closer to the core vB code could stop by and tell us what we're missing about the [img] bbcode support here.
I came up with a workaround until the [img] bbcode is fixed.
I made a custom bbcode called "Picture" just for the sole purpose of allowing images with this addon.
Custom BBCode Settings:
Title: Picture
BB Code Tag Name: pic
Replacement:
Disable Automatic Link Parsing: YES
You can see an example on my forum:
http://halocommunity.com/forums/member.php/1-HC-kegonomics%E2%84%A2
Images can stretch out past the right border of the Profile Intro with the above code. My forum has a fixed width of 1000px, so I edited the bbcode to resize an image wider than the width allowed by the Profile Intro box.
<img src="{param}" style="max-width: 698px;
/* Resize the image for IE6 */
width: expression(this.width > 698 ? 698: true);" />
Replace the RED text with the size you want.

It would be better if this was not viewable by others...only the user and maybe the admin and mods :)

phpdesk,
Thanks for the mod.
In the image below, a regular member is looking at the admin's profile page, "About Me" tab.
You can see that your block displays normally at the top, but the fields that were created are repeated below. Maybe defining the new user profile fields created by this hack as "editable, hidden" the actual owner of the profile can still view/edit it, but it does not show like that in the public profile except within your box.
Edit: This is same problem Mr. Running just reported above. :)

Thanks for the kind words, Mario. Don't forget to mark as installed to continue to receive support for this mod, anyway in order to enhance the look and feel of the profile intro block, you may wish to edit the following templates: "memberinfo_block_intro" and "profile-intro.css".

I did the following. Enabled the mod for Registered users. Created a standard user, filled the Profile Intro Title and Text fields with values. And then checked the profile page. All seems fine. Besides, as far as I'm aware, my mod cannot interact with the footer links in any way. Are you sure it isn't another product installed in your vbulletin?

I see what the error is, you might have to manually remove some entries from the database. If you could private message me the access details to the database admin consoler (phpmyadmin, usually) I would do the cleaning task for you.

Forgot to mention and now to report you:
I tested how this mod handles HTML code. And with first try I was "lucky". I used this HTML code:
<vb:if condition="$post['isfirstshown']">

Share thread with your friends:
{vb:raw thread.qr}

</vb:if>
When I put this in my profile intro text, my profile becomes unreachable, like it's wrong link used in browser (page doesn't exist error in browser).
Also, when I removed some of HTML codes, it was parsed strangley: < becomes < etc.
Could you please check code, make it HTML proof so people could use HTML and that it don't makes their profiles unreachable. Of course, when I say that people could use HTML, I don't mean that HTML code functions like HTML code (as this is a big security issue), just that it's parsed in right way (that you can see what HTML text was used) without effect on server, or profile showing. That is, HTML code stays just as it was entered, like in all other posts.

Well, this should be a new mod, or just template change, not sure at the moment. :)
But it couldn't be done with this mod without changing it's code, as this mod only shows what every user has set for it's profile intro.
Thinking about it, it maybe could be done with template change, adding it in iframe inside conditionals to enable seeing it to certain usergroups?
EDIT: I was intrigued enough that I made template modification using IFRAME: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=278884 :up:
You could decide which usergroups see user notes and if it is above or below user's profile tabs.

I've decided to add some additional fields to help with what I wish to do with this mod, but when trying to get a multi-select custom field to display as it does in the member.php profile it just comes up blank. Any idea? Do I have to create some kind of array to include 'selected' options of the multi-select? Here's a screenshot of what I have setup:
http://www.prosoundportal.com/images/problem.jpg
Yellow is the title, it displays
Blue is the link, it turns the title into a link to the user's site
Green is location, a simple text field
Purple is the text field, or description
Red is the issue, it's the multi-select option. As you can see in the profile, it displays each option separated by a comma, but when doing a direct call to the profile intro, it's blank.
Any assistance would be awesome, thanks in advance.
Edit: Ive fixed the displaying issue, but it still only templates the binary code of a multi_select instead of the independent selected values. I understand the values are stored in exponentially (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc), but I can't figure out how to template it correctly.

however there's a small issue with it showing " instead of "
it makes for example BB codes for font color not work and urls don't work
if you leave out all " from the text you enter in the box, then it works
been trying to modify the code in the Profile: Display Intro Block plugin to make it stop doing that, but so for without result (my php knowledge is very limited)

This is a 'value added' feature. Thank you for creating it. Installed on our vBulletin 4.2.0 PL2 forum.

I have my banner on my profile as on screen shot
But I want to put it on the right side above the visitors message box and link the usergroup banners with their clan forums
All worked fine on VBulletin 4.2 Patch 3. Then i accidentially deleted the Profilefields. Tryed to re-imported the XML file again but nothing showed up. I even cant uninstall it its sais "Cant delete Table 19" and a long Errormessage. Can somebody help me?
