Changing the landing page from index.html to /forums/content.php

Hi guys,

the homepage redirection to the content.php page works but I've been told that Google hates that.

What is the best way to get the page to display /forums/content.php when the user enters the url, or is redirected to the root directory ie. www.yoursite.com and having the CMS display?
