vbulletin forum running slow in IE8

Hello All.

Our vbulletin forum is running like a charm, but in IE8 it is very slow. ( www.mixfight.nl/forum )
We only installed a new style, and since then it is running slow.
Can anyone help us fix this problem?

Maybe the background image? I notice a lot of sites with nice backgrounds tend to "lag" sometimes, even with my high-end machine.

Loads nice and quick in Google Chrome.

the background is 'heavy', but not exceptionall big.
All the CSS, Images is about 1,2 MB.
In all browser our forum loads fast < 1 second.. (if you have a decent connection)
But in IE8 it is really taking like 10 seconds sometimes ??

So can we optimize something for IE8 to let our forum run faster? or is it really an IE8 problem?

Since migrating to vB4 I am now getting complaints from users saying pages are taking ages to load.

All the complaints are from folks using Windows XP and IE8.

Is there a fix for this IE8 issue or do they need to upgrade their browsers?
