Hi Guys

This is my first VB forum. Its a bit of a crazy idea and I'd love to know what everyone thinks.

I have only told a few friends about the forum so far that have found a number of bugs and come up with some ideas to make it better, which i am working on now.

I'd like some feedback from some seasoned VB goers because when I start to push this forum I want it to be perfect.

Any ideas/feedback is welcome good or bad www.projectshowcar.com

Thanks

Website is slow and lagggy. Theme is heavy and bloated.

Thanks for the feed back. Can you give me some ideas on how to improve the site as well as telling me where I am going wrong.

I wouldn't worry too much about what HE had to say- last night he went off the deep end and posted insulting comments in a number of threads- most of which were deleted by moderators. I doubt he was being very truthful about anything.

Website doesn't lag at all for me.
I think your forum looks good. Very simple and clean style.
On your homepage there's a massive box that has nothing in it... I don't know if that's meant to be how it looks but that kinda puts me off abit.
Other than that I like it. Nice one.

Website is slow and lagggy. Theme is heavy and bloated. I did not lag but im running fiber some one on DSL may. The biggest thing you can change is the image format you are using for your images. Png's are one of the largest file type, try changing them to .jpg or .gif i'd go with .jpg.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Looking into what everyone has too say. Got some fairly big changes coming to the site soon, all based on feed back I've had so far.

Main page was like, wow! But, then i got to the forum section, and i was like "blah."

Maybe try a slightly different color scheme for forum, with custom icons etc. to offset the head read header.

Also the mango/salmon color on the blogs isn't eye comfortable with the bright red header. Maybe add somethign that compliments the logo?

Thanks Fusion,

I'm still working on the home page. Have changed it slightly recently, although it needs a bit more tweeking!

I've been looking into some customs icons.. just can't come up with any great ideas at the moment. So if anyone has any please let me know.

Thanks for all the feed back guys, keep it coming!

Hopefully it will be finished soon. Then I can start to promote my forum.

Why fixed width?, you've fixed your ad divs and one of them is outside the forum width which means you have to scroll right to see it. The thick red tcat in every post takes a little getting used to i would have gone for one not as wide, also you have no folder/post tree, when clicking in to a thread how do you get back to the forum the thread is in or the category other than scrolling down and using the jump menu?

Other than that looks great!

good style, but as it's a car site, i do not comment the content, i hate cars, i prefer teleportation... rofl

Thanks Guys

I am going to get the folder/post tree reinstated! Not even sure how I've managed to get rid of it =(

I'm also going to put the Members profile bar/sign in boxes in the top right corner of every page. Only seems to be on the forum page.

Cheers again guys

I've redesigned the homepage, what do you guys think?

Could someone point me in the right direction. I have been searching for a mod that can display the users avatar on the home page in the sign in box once a user has signed in. I can't find one. Has this not been done?

Thanks

You can try this mod for the avatar:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=233813

There's another one by Vicious and then an alternate by one of his associates so be sure to search for that as well ;).

Thank you very much. Very speedy response. I thought there would be a mod. I'm struggling to find mods I want/need because I'm not using the right keywords. I'm still a VB n00b.

Thanks for you help.

great looking site. nice layouts..couple of comments.

1) on the header logon information aligned to the right end. probably it would make more sense if you could align it to the body.
2) two logon's might create confusion. one on the header and one other at the right side bar.
3) Create and add a fevicon to your root folder.
4) Add a go to top link in the bottom.

overall it looks good. good luck! :D

I agree with this person:

Use some custom forum icons, change that pink to something else then red on mouseover etc perhaps a burgundy or dark brick red type of color.... other than that CMS looks good, overall of someone who admitted to being a newcomer to vbulletin not too shabby (so far :p).

Just had a go at some custom F]forum icons, new posts, old posts and the ones for the Icon legend.
