downloading the forum

I have a rather stupid question.
Anyone tried downloading their entire public_html and uploading it back?
Does the forum work normally after you do this?

I've done it several times. To make the process faster, zip the directory, download the .zip archive, then upload again and unzip it.

There's probably no reason to download it (separately) though. If you're backing up your whole website monthly anyway, then you already have it in that file.

And you would only want to upload it back if something catastrophic happens.
