Hello guys,
I am wondering if there is anyway to know if 2 IP addresses are used by the same person? We have a situation on my forum and 2 users who have similar IP's but not sure if they are the same. I'm 99.9% sure it is the same person, but I would like to be 100% sure before throwing accusations...
Thanks,
mel

Why is it a problem? If both "aliases" behave and contribute to the forum, then so what? If one or both are problematic, then so? Deal with it!

What if they are brothers? Sisters? Mother? Fathers? Their boyfriend or girlfriend? Are you gonna ban them because they are sharing the same IP's
:erm:

Moved to the vB3 GD forum.
We have two users on our site that have the same IP - two cousins who share an apartment.
Have you tried asking the users if they know each other or are friends? Is it really a big deal if they are the same person with two different usernames?
I think the OP was wondering about one person 2 ips, not the other way around. And I think I know why it's a concern, because some forums don't want to allow clones (or whatever you call one person with two user accounts). But, there really isn't any way to tell that I know of.

If they got 2 different IP's then no way to tell if they are the same person... When you say IP's are very similar I assume you mean the first three values are the same and just the last set of digits is different... ?
