How do I get a layout like Black Hat World?

I really like their layout http://www.blackhatworld.com/ how they have the recent posts on the homepage and when you go to the different threads the url looks like this...

http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/thread

instead of this:

http://www.blackhatworld.com/thread


How would I manage to get this kind of layout to my new forum that I am going to install?

URL structure is most like just rewrites in the .htaccess file.

they're using vbadvanced for the layout, and maybe vbseo for the url's
