This mod will enable you to set a maximum number of posts and threads in forums of your choosing withing a time frame limit of your choosing.

After installing the hack, go to Settings-Options->Maximum Posts & Threads

There you can enable and disable the hack. You can also enter the minimum number of day/s limit as well as the maximum number of posts and/or threads. By default it is set to 1 day limit. You can also choose the forums where to enforce the maximum limit and which User Groups and/or Individual users and/or forums will be excluded from the limit.

Would it possible to add in a function that will engage the limit for users who are below an admin set reputation level?

So if a user has low rep, they are limited in how many posts they can make a day.

I have used this mod, but, unfortunately, this does not do what I want. When I select 8 multiple sections, user can post only one thread in one of these (selected) sections and then he has to wait another x days to post in another section . I want something, where user can post 1 thread (in x days) in each section I select separately.

Also; A bug, when I set 0 posts (to disable posts limit), it says you are reached your limited when posting a post.

I would appreciate your kind reply regarding this.

Atm I don''t have much free time to expand my mod further. And that is not a bug btw. You should leave that area blank to disable as mentioned at the setting description :)

It is not blank. It is set to 0 by default. And it restricts users to make posts.

About expanding feature, I believe there must need a little codding more. I request you, developer.

I do not understand the mod. I have set it up to allow posting 2 threads every 7 days, the moment I make my first thread, then that is it; I am not allowed to continue, but if I lower the 7 days down to like 3, then I can create another thread.

What am I doing wrong?

Seems to be quite a useful mod. But I need something like that limiting the maximum number of posts within 30 minutes, as some users start spamming our forum with useless posts as soon as they have registered.

After installing this mod for a client, he reports this issue:

...unfortunately it's not working properly, or maybe I'm using it wrong. I enabled it and set it to allow one thread per day. ...When I tried to start a new thread there, I got the error message below;

An error has occurred...! You have reached the maximum number of 1 threads per 1 days set by the admin for this forumEven though I haven't started a thread in that section since April last year.

So I just tried it myself, and it worked as expected. But I have never posted in that particular forum before, whereas he had - even though it was almost a year ago. Any idea why this is happening to him?

It works good. but I've set thread limit 3 and post limit 3.

but when I try to post 3 threads and it won't let me post 3 posts.

It seems the thread limit count towards posts too. is there a way to fix it?

Set 6 posts and 3 threads, that will do what you want.

Hi .. We have a problem. The product is not only counting the number of posts made but even the number of edits made within a time period. Like if the limit is 10 posts per day per forum and someone makes 5 posts and edits them 5 times their quota gets over.

Can you please take a look at this issue. Thanks. :)

I'd like to limit the number of new threads per user to one per day within several particular forums. The user would be able to post 1 thread in forum A and perhaps 2 threads in forum B. It only seems possible to set a single limit across one group of forums with this.

I need a simple hint, I'm sure I can fix it then by myself, as some simple PHP and SQL can be done by me :-)

We want to have the possibillity to limit the amount of threads per time in a specific forum to 10. The mod is working properly on a 4.1.10, realy cool.

But when one of those 10 Posts is moved by an admin or mod to another board, the user should be able to add one more again.

Is there some scheduled query I can do i. e. hourly to implement this?

EDIT: Found in the XML. As we don't need it dynamically on different forums I will modify the SQL Statement in the Addon an reinstall it simply.

So: Thanks for the mod!

That link has gone south. So on your site I looked found Vbulletin Services > Modifications Area > Free Mods (support), but this one isn't listed there. So where do I get support?

In the meantime, here is my issue. Yesterday one of our admins has asked me:

I tried to post an ad in our Webmaster & Advertising Offers & Requests section and got this:

An error has occurred...! You have reached the maximum number of 1 threads per 2 days set by the admin for this forum. The last thread (http://www.businessadviceforum.com/showthread.php/37393-Seek-Directory-Add-your-Site-from-1-SEYQ-com) I posted in that section was on "Tue 10th Jul 2012 19:40"

I should be able to post a new thread there. I'm concerned that we are making it difficult for our members to post here.

I can easily exclude myself from that restriction in the ACP, but then it would probably still be effecting our other members.

And today he posted:

I just tried again to post an ad, i.e. start a new thread in that section, but am getting the same error message.

I posted the ad on a few other forums no problem, but can't post it on my own http://www.businessadviceforum.com/images/smilies/Yahoo/frown.gif

I can't see anywhere in the settings that would affect things in this way. Do you have any suggestions?

That's a pity, the mod was extremely useful and now I've had to disable it because it's not working properly. Perhaps someone else will create a similar mod in the future.

Hi

Thank you for the great Hack.

I'm wondering, Is it possible to change the time limit from days to a real time? I mean, minutes or hours!
I have human spammers they register and put many threads in one minute, I want to prevent them from doing that. For Example allow all users to post only one thread an hour.
VB V:4.2

Thanx

vBulletin 4.2.2 it is not working.
I have put 2 maximum threads on 60 days (and just to be sure 9999 posts ) but users that didn't start even one thread can not start a new thread...

I installed for vB 4.2.2 PL 1. It installed correctly.

The Thread and Time limit works 100% fine, but the Maximum Post limit is not working.

When the Post limit is left blank to disable as the instruction says so the post is unlimited, it generate "0" on the field and it still popup the message and prevents a post to be made.

Please, would you update and fix this issue for higher versions of vB 4.2.x?

Would be very grateful.

Thank you.
