You can also do this very easily with forum permissions. Set "Allow other users to view others' threads" to off for everyone but staff, and "Allow users to view own threads" to on. Disable guests from seeing either, and you've got yourself a instant support ticket system.

For a more technical support system there is this mod:

One tecnical bug with this configuration of only-self-created-thread permission is that whenever a second o third user reports tha same post, he gets out of the thread (and report) content for not being the thread creator.

A solution for this in my web would be interesting.
