Hey,

When I install my forums, some spam users will immediatly spam my forums.
I was on vacation and some users were spamming porn sites and search engines.
They got auto registration etc, and will post each hour I think.
While I was away, I had 3000 users spamming.

How to stop them and kill them?

I am running on vbulletin 4.0.5 now

Thank you.

Same problem for me, looking for some one who can solve it.
There is a specific modification for it, you can install it to kill them.
I suggest you roll your backup or simply clear one by one..which is hard. :(

Don't install any mods until you try a simple q&a.

Just installed it. I did a couple tests, so far its looking very good.
we will see how it holds up under pressure :)

I just love how it checks a spam db, I can put spam keywords in, and it shuts down
anyone posting urls right off the bat...it can only get better from here..great job.

These mods have come a long way since i last used VB...

Thanks! And yes, its going to get better. We have a minor release coming in a week or so which is just basic cleanup and better options for vB4.

At the same time we will release an identical system for 3.x which will be in beta and with limited support for critical bug fixes. Our main goal is vB4 support but want the vB3 users to still have a chance.

After that:

We have a couple of surprises coming out here soon (vB4 branch only) that introduce about 20 additional settings for fine-tuning and front-end improvements to make the ban process faster and easier.

Stay tuned.

I would not waste to much time on v3, even vb is going to phase out
v3 and they are probably near the end of it. If people continue to stay
with these old versions, then they risk security breach, and the older
it gets, then the worse it is. Would anyone setup v2? of course not...
it would be crazy, focus on the future, not the past...

If I keep nothing else up-to-date - I will keep my spam mod up to par...
I have been testing v4.x for a day or two now, and it looks real
promising, but i can only do so much by myself. I guess I will find
out if anything is wrong when I open my forum so my other board
members can get on...
