View Full Version : How to display reputation comments in post?

Used to have this mod on 3.8.x...surprised that it doesn't exist (or I can't find it anyway) for vb 4.0.x.
Is there an easy way to display rep comments in the individual post? Or does anyone know of the existence of this modification (either here or another community)?

Looking for a real solution (like the mod in 3.x.x).

bumpity bump.
Almost a year and not a single soul has figured this out yet?

It might just be that nobody wants it. You never linked the vb3 mod. Did it have many installs?

Try looking at the 'similar threads' at the bottom of this page. You may get an answer as there are plenty of replies in those threads.

Ya I looked at that before I wrote my last post but it mostly seems to be already present in vb4, hence my comment. I know you can see "Latest Reputation Received" in your vb4 Settings. That is presumably a usergroup setting and you may have it turned off.

I have not updated my main site to vb4 yet, but when I do, I will surely need this functionality. If its not available at that time then I will have it developed.

All three of those mods are by Paul M. If you look at his profile, you'll see he released a 4.x version a year and a half ago - Display Reputation Comments Given (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=231875)

Lynne I *think* they mean actually displaying rep comments under the postbit itself.
I recall seeing a mod that did this for 3.x but can't remember what it was called.
Conversion though should be easy, it will be a matter of converting templates to vB4 format and probably registering the variables, that's all.

Ah, I think you are right. :) If they want something similar to an old mod though, then they really should post a link to the old mod instead of making us search for it.

Totally agree. I can rarely be bothered searching for stuff for myself let alone other people. :)
We may be able to point people in the right direction on conversion though, if someone finds it....it probably won't be too tricky, it's likely only going to be template calls and variables that need sorting for this as I don't think the rep system changed in vB4.

Its the 'tk post notes' hack.

Yup, that is the one...does something like that exist for vb 4?

I've never heard of a vb4 version. It doesn't look like it would be too difficult to code so you may consider posting in Paid Services.
It's difficult to get people to use the reputation system at all, much less to post clean comments. Or not to post a comment, since in a thread one expects comments to follow in-thread, not in the same post. Have you just considered a Thanks mod? I think there are two for vb4.

I use a thanks mod already. But my users have long used reputation comments, they are used to it and they really loved seeing rep comments in the posts when we had it. Unfortunately, we just had to upgrade due to security issues and when we did, that mod no longer worked.

Yeah, we just upgraded to 4.2 and used the heck out of the TK post notes hack in 3.8. I was surprised that there's not a 4.2 substitute for it, and I'd really like to have one.
