In preparation for upgrade (from vB 3.54 to 3.84) should I do any maintenance or optimization of my board? I haven't done anything for almost 1 year as all seems OK.
Thanks.

The most important thing is to make a thorough backup of the db. Then if you want you can run an optimization of your db tables if you want to.

Does thorough backup mean a general Mysql backup, or one using the vB admin function?
No particular need to optimize?

If I were you would make the backup of the mysql db not from the Acp but from the phpmyadmin or some other third party tool like mysqldumper for ex.
You should run the optimizing option as well as it will increase the performance. But I meant that the backup should have first priority.
