Bots are technically "Guests," so you'd have to alter that entire usergroup, which is probably not your intended goal.

What I think you are trying to accomplish (give SE bots more content than regular guests), albeit possible to code, probably falls under "Cloaking" and you'd be penalized for it.

But I'm not an SEO guy, so I don't know!

Think what you're saying. If you let bots index your private forums, then anyone will be able to browse those forums. Makes no sense.

I read your question. But I don't think you're quite grasping the concept of a private forum. Or maybe you just asked the wrong question.

IPB gives you the ability to Change which usergroup your bots may spider the forum.. I personally always gave bots the same permissions as a registered user.. However that is not an out of the box option in vB.. and i have not personally ever seen a hack here that would modify that behavior..
