Registration in 3 steps

Hi guys, i would like to know if exists any modification to allow a user to register in steps, for example:
1 - We ask for username, email and birth date, presses NEXT
2 - We send email confirmation to the user, who confirms it and then can go on to
3 - We ask for password, name, id, etc.

Does it exist ? Perhaps taking out step 2. But it's a great way to have many more real users.

It's not really 3 steps anyway because he/she is counting on the click next button as being the second step but that doesn't really count does it?

I'm against the 3 steps registration anyway for many personal reasons, but there is a mod around that allow your members to register by submitting their email address then by clicking the confirmation link (in their email) they will be taken into a page to complete the registration.

I think that's close enough to what you're asking.

Now with reference to your request, it's simple & easy to do with hardly any additional codes to vB, but I don't think anyone will do it cause it has no purpose, vB registration process is fairly simple for anyone.
