I don't seem to really understand.
What does this do? I saw the link, but what's so special about it?
Thanks.

Our plugin converts a regular merchant link into an affiliate link on the fly. When a site visitor clicks on the link, they get cookied. If the visitor performs an action, like purchasing something or signing up within the cookie time period (up to 90 days) you as the site owner would earn a commission.

I'm signing up. I haven't used it yet but heard wonderful things about it and know some people who drive a lot of additional revenue with it.
Instead of having to worry about all these different affiliate programs, you just drop in a piece of code to your site and DrivingRevenue helps you seamlessly convert a ton of existing outgoing links to affiliate links. If those links are naturally on your forum anyways... why not make some money from them?

It sux though that a site has to have a certain level of traffic to sign up.

It's not a hard minimum, if you have a fair amount of outbound retailer links and traffic, we'll look at the site and usually approve it.

How is this different than just going to the DR site, signing up and inserting their code into your forum's footer?

The difference is that this plugin doesn't require you to edit the footer template. Otherwise, it's functionally the same.

I already have an Amazon affiliate account and I periodically review what merchandise is selling to my readers so I know what I should focus on promoting. Does this plugin force me to use Driving Revenue's Amazon affiliate account? If so, will I still be able to review purchases made by my community?

It's up to you, we can exclude amazon or any other merchant from our link rewriting. So, you can keep doing what you're doing with amazon.

Any chance of this being released for 3.8? Not many people want to hit vB4 yet ;)
Cheers

thanks for the mod, I just added the script when I signed up, will check this out and see if it's easier :)
is it better to use this plugin, or keep the code in our footer like we've been doing? (if we're already signed up)

There's really no difference, this plugin just makes it easier to install and manage. for instance if you update styles or templates this plug will keep the JavaScript code in the footer.

I'm currently using DrivingRevenue and am very satisfied. It was the easiest affiliation I've ever setup. Payouts are decent considering forum members don't even see or notice anything commercial about the forum.

Anyone know of a add-on that works for vb 4.0 and just ebay that doesn't require to put their hands on your money? Similar to the add-on made for 3.6 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=144214)?

Why would you want to limit yourself to just eBay? there are over 12,000 affiliate programs that you could be earning substantial revenue from. With eBay's transition to the QCP revenue model last fall, it's not as attractive as it once was.
Also, Driving Revenue / VigLink can exclude any of their 12K retailers from your account at any time. If you ever decide to do your own link rewriting / affiliation, you can do so without us interfering or affecting your own efforts.

So I go to drivingrevenue.com and click "Sign Up" and it redirects me to VigLink. Now I install this mod, and get a lonnnng API Key. In the Admin CP its asking me for a 4 digit code "found on DrivingRevenus account page" or something.
What is my 4 digit code, where do I find it and what do I need the long API key for?
Thanks!

Hi Heather, actually DrivingRevenue was acquired by Google Ventures backed VigLink 2 months ago, as a result we're in the midst of migrating our code and publishers.
The easiest thing to do would be to remove the DrivingRevenue plugin, and install the Viglink plugin here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=241387&highlight=viglink
then use that API Key you recieved from the VigLink Signup
please let me know if you have questions.

I can't believe how few replies there are to this. Driving Revenue/Viglinks is a great way to make money on your site, especially since we got banned off adsense. Very easy to set up and completely hidden from users - i.e. they'll never know it was there, so there is no harm in installing it. If it doesn't make money (and it will!), just remove it. Sign up here (http://www.viglink.com/?vgref=5931) now.

In the VigLink dashboard (http://www.viglink.com/dashboard) (when you are logged in), you'll notice a tab called "install" at the top. Within that section is our installation verification tool. Enter any URL and we'll let you know if VigLink is active on that page.
Let us know how that goes, and any other questions we can help out with!

First VS and IB buy up a bunch of forums and turn them into crap. Now companies want a piece of your ad/referral revenue.
Get your own publisher acct and cut out the middle man.
Hi VigLink,
I have this add-on installed and its working so far. My headaches are coming from another direction. VL is installed with convert/insert options turned on. What I have noticed is, that every converted/inserted link is referring to the merchenats us/en sites - even when there are sites in my forums language and coverage available. My website is a german site and the audience is coming from germany (96%), switzerland (2%) and austria (1%), USA (0,3%), GB (0,3%).
I registered my site with viglink as a german site so I was expecting rewritten german linktargets and landing sites with .de TLDs. What can I do to get matching insert/convert-links with .de instead of .com TLDs? It´s quiet obvious, that the german visitor will click the link, see the english page, deletes the url in the browser and types in the german TLD manually - which won´t be counted as a referal, afaik.
May be VigLink is programmed to serve ONLY us/en sites. But so far I couldn´t find something that would prove that. May be you can lend me a helping hand on that issue.
TIA.

Staying far away from this, don't need a middle man.
