Change Posts Owner
Created by Marius Czyz aka Phalynx. Converted to vBulletin 4 by Speedy1505.
Tested on vBulletin 4.0.3 and 4.0.4
What does this modification do?
It can change the owner and date of multiple threads and post. For this, it adds another option to your mod actions on forumdisplay, showthread and search results. After selecting some threads or posts, you can choose the new owner by name or by UserID. "By name" works with the AJAX namesuggestion, we all know it from writing a PM. After changing the name, it rebuilds thread/forum counters and post counter of old and new user. Attachments will also be assigned to new user.
Installtime: <1 minutes
Difficulty: very easy (1 product)
Demo is not available, due to missing permissions on my board.
Please click Mark as INSTALLED, otherwise I will not support you.
Features
- Can change owner and date of selected posts and threads (including database attachments - it will not move file attachments)
- Can change owner to unregistered user and back
- Can accept user id and username
- Username input is driven by AJAX
- Post count of involved users will be increased/decreased
- Thread and forum counters of involved threads and forums will be rebuild

Would it be possible for this to work at the point of thread/post creation like this other mod (which unfortunately is buggy as it doesn't update post counts like yours and sends thread subscription emails in the name of the original poster).

How to disable the display of "started by" and date by default? i.e, to only show username of thread creator?
I know this isn't related to this plugin directly.

Yes, check the setting Change thread/Posts Owner - "Use group permission"

Of course, as in german it's called "?ndert den Besitzer eines Themas/Beitrags". You've never mentioned that you are using a translated version.

Well i'm sure it would have another name but it doesn't show up there at all.
Works perfectly on 4.0.6
Only one thing: mod's can see inline moderation tools and they can *see* but cannot *use* this option. Only Admins may use the hack, moderators may not. That is OK, but if a usergroup doesn't have rights to use the hack then they also must not see it in the inline moderation popup menu. Now they know the option exists, and start asking questions about it as to why they are not allowed to use that option.

Nice mod, I am using it for long time with vB 3
one problem though, when I allow Admins only to use it.. it still shows up as an option to SMODs but they can't use it.. I don't like it showing up unless they have the permission to use it

Thanks, great mod. Installed!
I have made a couple of small edits to the code, relabelling the tool and buttons to "Change TIME/DATE/Author" since I use this mod mostly to edit the time of a post so that I can INSERT or MOVE a post in an existing thread. Great if I want to add a comment between existing posts.
In fact, a great addition would be to be able to select a new button "INSERT POST" that would automatically reply with a time/date stamp half way between the selected post and the next post.

Just installed in 4.1PL2, and its great. I've just migrated to vb4 with CMS and wanting to promote a history of forum based articles into the CMS and bring along the comments. This lets me change the date of the first post in each comments thread to be prior to all the comments. Perfect.
One suggestion would be to do something to identify the month and day in the form... you are using European style and so in the US people are going to get confused. Either match the date format used in the forum, or just label the fields M, D, and Y so the user knows. Thanks.

How are you supposed to install this? I tried uploading the xml file in the Style Manager and merging it into my current style, that did not come out well.
In fact, the page for generating a new style is messed up in my AdminCP.
I can't access anything now.
Everything is messed up.
Phalynx

Products should be installed via AdminCP, Plugins & Products, Manage Products, Add/Import Product
I suppose you need to fix it by recreating the default style. Copy the tools.php from your installation to your server and execute it. There you can restore the default templates.

I think i discover a little bug on time change option. If you try to change the post time it changes it but it set it +8hours forward from the time you choose. For example if you choose 15:00 it will set it 23:00, if you choose 10:00 it will go to 18:00 etc. Does anyone else have this problem?

How do I make it so the inline mod works on search result for changing the threads owner?
When I go into a specific forum I can select multple threads and the moderation tools on bottom has the option to change threads owner
When I have search results and the same options for inline moderation the option for change threads owner is not there...seems like it may be just missing from another template?

Works just fine for me at 4.1.3. (forums only)
speedy1505 and Phalnyx might find this one slightly amusing: for whatever reason my vB.org searches had only lead me to the 3.x versions of this product. So I began modifying it myself and was almost finished. I lost the 3.x product/plugin vB.org webpage one night, so I did another search to ask Phalnyx if I could distribute the product in the same manner in which speedy1505 has. And wouldn't you know it?! That's when I found the 4.x version! Hah! I about gave myself a good kick in the pants, but then again this was my first attempt at modifying/creating a product/plugin, so I learned a lot, so it wasn't a total waste of time.
Anyway, thanks again. Marked as installed and MOTM.

Hi Phalynx,
Yes my stuff worked and used your basic structure/approach. I was at the point of tweaking the HTML in the primary template when I found the 4.x version in an attempt to make the same request of you. My code has a slightly different implementation, but in the end the results are the same.
Thanks again - necessary and good mod.

Make sure you uninstall it or disable it after you use it to fix threads, this mod messes up the time with a +3hrs difference. we used it to fix dates on a few threads of a board that was converted from phpbb3. Good tool, besides the time bug it just works great with the latest vb, just uninstall it after you use it. :)

It works fine for me in vB 4.2. It had the same problem in the other previous vB versions as well for me. The timing would be ahead by one hour. So when you change the time, you will need to type in 09:45:41 in order for it to show 8:45 AM. I hope that makes sense.

Heya, I'm using the Smart Friendly URLs (/showthread.php/id-title-stuff/) and I can't get this to work in 4.2.1. I'm not sure if it's a version-specific problem or whatever, but I can't actually find the option in my moderation tools. Getting the message
Warning: Function split() is deprecated in ....\inlinemod.php(372) : eval()'d code on line 15
in 4.2.2. Is it possible to rewrite the mod to avoid the deprecated code? I was advised that in this case, explode() is a good substitute for split()

If you look above your post I'm getting the same error, also the alignment is a little screwy for me.

Ciao! When I change the post owner, the change is not visible on the Stream (is always visible the old post owner).
Every time I have to go to ACP -> Maintenance -> Update Stream Counters.
Just me?
Thank!

No I doubt it is just you, this mod was made before the activity stream, so it probably don't update that info. Just a guess, as I have not tried the mod.

We recently upgraded to version 4.2.5 and PHP 7 and not getting this error when trying to use this mod. Hope it is an easy fix because this mod comes in handy frequently.

FWIW, I have this running on 4.2.5 PHP 5.6.31
I take it you have removed and re-installed it following this (http://saabworld.net/showthread.php?t=33303)? i do not know enough about PHP versions to identify compatability issues between versions.

I recon, split() is not recognised in PHP 7 AFAIK

Try changing the split to explode.
It's in the Change Thread/Post owner (inline) plugin, at inlinemod_start.
I haven't tested this as I don't run php 7.

I have this installed on 4.2.5. It will let me change the owner of a thread, no problem. But if I try to change the date of a post in the thread it generates random dates. It will not change to the specific date I set.

In PHP 7, split() was removed. Changing split to explode should suffice. Alternatively, you can use the preg_split and using what the link above has. :)
On line 199 of the addon, setting split to explode will make it function once more.
You can also edit the plugin's hook at inlinemod_start titled "Change Thread/Post owner (inline)", and changing the above.
