We have sucessfully created a test site, and added mods etc, but we would like to bring this upto date with the current forum with posts and members, is there a way to transfer this information from database to database, if so can some one please point us in the right direction, on how to do this.

Thankyou :)

Simply export the db from that of the live forum and import it at that of your test forum.

my current site is running on 3.8.4, so would this not be compatable, with vb4 version with all new mods etc

This is a good question! Can we use the Impex to transfer the members and posts from one to another???

it doesn''t matter, after you import the db, then run the upgrader so it can bring it up to date (db)

Yes, I believe you can use Impex to merge 2 vb forums.

Well, i tried that and it didn't work at all! Now i can't access ACP, since cookies are with different values and when updated the new version, it froze on step 8 :(
I guess i will have to copy/paste each post and redirect newest member to new version site to re-register!
Tks anyway

What exactly did you try?

P.s. it would be best if you didn''t hijack the thread for the OP but instead start a new thread with your forum issues :)

I tried what you reply borbole, update database and run upgrade after, but it freeze on step 8!
As per hijacking, we are working on same forum :) No arm done there ;)

What was the error you got during the upgrade?

But I think all the questions related to vb core related issues should be asked over at vb.com forum.
