View Full Version : Email SMTP relay limits

My hosting account with godaddy only allows 1000 SMTP relays per day. I have over 2500 members so I am unable to send out bulk emails to all members. Anybody know of a mod or something that will help resolve this issue.

I don't mind sending out 1000 emails per day but I can't figure out a way to create a mailing list that I can extract 1000 users then use that list to send out the emails each day.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Your setting for mail queue system set to Yes With Locking ?

You must change your host, to a host that allows you to send more mails.

It is set to "Yes". Just to be clear I can send up to 1000 emails but once I hit 1000 then it stops because godaddy has a limit of 1000 per 24 hours. What I want to do is be able to send 1000 every 24 hours or create batch jobs that go every 24 hours, or something to work around the 1000 relay limit. No matter what I would have to send out the emails over a few day period which is not a problem. The problem is there is not easy way to do this that I can find. I am considering creating a few new usergroups then just adding 1000 users to each group but that will be a manual process. I assumed somebody would have a mod or something to deal with this type of issue since there are a lot of hosting companies that have this limit.

You may think that sending it out over a few days is ok- but think of it long term. Today you have 2500 members, in 3 months- 5000 - in a year - hopefully you'll reach 15,000.

What will you do then? Wait 2 weeks for the last members to get the email?

Even with 5,000 members this isn't so feasible...

You should try to find a host that allows you to send more emails.
