Hello,
I was wondering. When I look at everyone's mods I see a lot of people download the mods, but only half or so click install. Can an admin do something about this?
Is it possible when someone downloads a mod, it automatically clicks install so the downloads and installs are equal? I know some people may not install the mod, but what is the use of downloading a mod if you are not going to use it?
Just a suggestion.

This has been discussed many times before. We are not going to add an automatic install click. The install is to subscribe to update notices etc.
Also many might download a modification to do a test install on their localhost in order to decide if they will install it on their production board or not.

just wondering; would it be allowed (assuming a suitable warning is given to the user in the mod description) to have the install code for a mod popup a window and ask the user to click install on vb.org ?

When you download the mod, how do you know for sure you are going to install it? I know I have downloaded several mods, tried them out, found they don't do what I want, and then dump them. I don't go back to the thread to click install until I've decided I'm installing it on my live site.

No that is not allowed.

Do you mean a pop-up simply asking them, or a pop-up that attempts to do it if they say yes ?
Unless the user was logged into vb.org at the time, it the latter would fail anyway (in fact, it would probably fail even if they were logged in, due to other checks).

Or, you could do what Paul M has in his hacks. A little reminder when his products are important to "Please remember to mark as installed on vbulletin.org" :)
