How do You battle Spam?

Hello!

We are being attacked by all sorts of spammers on our forums and I thought it would be nice if everyone shares their successes with battling spam.

We cut down 95% of the spammers by blocking all Asian IPs from our forum. Yes, very drastic but our forums are aimed at US/Canada and EU markets.

We noticed that most of the spammers were live people and not bots!!! Which means that CAPTCHAs and the like did no good against them.

We noticed that the remaining spammers are all using @gmail.com for their emails. We are hesitant to ban gmail, of course.

Ive never Had one bot get in my forums all of them :)

Hey thank you!!! Since I installed the other poster's, posted mod all spam has stopped, well that and blocking all Asian IPs. :P

I will look into these as well, then unblock all Asian IPs and report back.

I must say that after a week of StopForumSpam I only had one spammer, and he was already registered form a while ago.
