What it is: Advanced Thanks/Like mod is designed to cut down on spam and increase useful content in your forum by using a peer encouragement system - users thank/like each others posts, which can give them access to attachements, post content etc, as well as encourage the thanked person to post more great content.

What does 'Marking As Installed' do ?

* It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified by us whenever new updates are available.

Major Features: Lite

Require a Button CLick: Allows you to hide the content of a post, or hie an attachment, until the person clicks a button on the post.

Statistics: Shows the top 5 people for; Giving / Receiving button clicks.

Collapsable postbit stats: Shows how many button clicks a person has given, received etc in the postbit. Admins can determine what statistics can show in the postbit to control sizes etc. The postbit is also collapsable.

Admin Permissions: Control things such as who can click buttons, require button clicks, what shows in postbit, what options can run concurrently, per forum permisions etc.

Reputation: Add / Remove Reputation for each of your button clicks.

Notifications: Receive alerts when a member clicked on one of the buttons for one of your posts.

Import Thanks: Import script to import "thanks" from Abe's [AJAX] Post Thank You Hack on vBulletin.org. It will work with both vB3 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=165673) and vB4 (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=231666) versions of this mod.

Major Features: Pro

Infinite Buttons: Ability to create new buttons to press! No longer do you need to be limited by Thanks / Like / Dislike.

Auto Collapse Posts: Collapses a post so it doesnt show up by using a formulae for button clicks of your choosing.

User Postbit Config: Lets users decide what postbit stats they want to see.

Additional permissions: Un-click a button. Control how many stats show on the statistics page, set permissions per subforum.

Integrated Controls: You can now integrate the button clicking controls into the post footer, like many of you requested.

Buttons in First Post Only: This allows you to only make the first post thankable. If you forum is based around news, releases or anything similar this will allow your users to easily see the quality of the thread in question.

Button Click Anonymity: This feature will be extremely helpful to forums who like the idea of a "dislike" button, but don't like the drama it brings. Now you can set certain buttons to be anonymous - no one will see who clicked.

Post Colour Thresholds: Ever wanted an easy way for members to tell if a post is helpful or trash? Colour thresholds let you change the colour of posts depending on how many clicks of a button they receive. Members can now see at a glance whether or not a post is helpful, interesting or pointless.

Also, a major bug has been fixed: Users who did not have a usergroup permission that does not exist in Lite would render this mod non-functional for their posts.

If the post requires Thanks or Like to see post content and/or attachments, it will now refresh the post without needing to reload the page.

Hey, I've installed this on our test-server and all seems to be working well - I like it so far.

EDIT: I see there is a search function enabled, I need to check into it more though to see how it works out.

Is it possible to create a section on the homepage (i.e. a box, where people normally place announcements our shoutboxes) where the top likes/posts are listed, with a link to a search?

And of course, if it could be enabled for threads... that would be PERFECT.

Hey DBTech,

Thanks for being active and answering the questions. I really hope you can manage to get this to work out!

I'd just like to note that when I uploaded the files for your mod and installed it and then rolled back my forum DB to the previous one (prior to installation), I was getting some serious exception error and my forum would not load. I don't remember the error message (this was last week during pressure time so I didn't think of notifying).

What I did to fix this: I returned the forum to current version, disabled the mod from the product manager, and then rolled back to the earlier version- then my forum was accessible.

My guess- if the mod is installed without the proper files uploaded on the FTP side to back it (Which is what happened on DB rollback), this causes some sort of exception and crashes the server, making the forum inaccessible.

You should test this out and see if you can simply make the mod unavailable/not working in this case, as opposed to crashing the whole forum.

I am running 3.8.2 and I believe MYSQL 4.1

I had a bunch of other mods installed, but since this error didn't happen till rollback, I doubt that was the issue.

I'm also running vBSEO 3.3.0

The like/dislike system is also pretty much completely customisable in 1.1 beta as well - allowing you to create your own buttons that have the impact you specify =)

Lite version should be out in the next 4-6 weeks, though obviously there will be features not in the Lite version which are in pro.

Some regards about new release

1) There are no spaces between buttons, so i need to manually made it

2) It would be great to place dbtech_thanks_postbit_entries where we want like it's done on postbit. Extra it could be even better to split {$entries} and {$actions} so we could place at the top of the message the action links and on the bottom of the message the list of users.

3) As there it's a "List Text" (suffix), sometimes it's need a prefix. Maybe it could be added

4) Maybe users can remove receiving notifications?

The columns generated by adding a new button now properly use MySQL indexes on all installations.
Installing / upgrading with a user that does not have the Super Administrator permission now works as intended
An alignment issue with the button icons in the postbit has been fixed.

I just had this plugin installed and while it seemed to be working fine, it is causing an issue with new registrations. All new registrations since the installation of the plugin have the user title "guest" and their usernames are not clickable to see their profile, send them PM's, etc. I just disabled the plugin, and that resolved the issue.

Any ideas how to fix this bug??

After editing (I found the answer to my previous question):
Are there any plans to introduce the features that Abe's post thank you hack has on users' profile pages. That modification inserts links so that anyone can search for all the posts that they have thanked, and been thanked for.
On edit again: I guess you might suggest using your vBActivity mod instead of inserting those links on the user's profile page manually.

I'm unable to confirm this issue with Legacy postbit turned off, you may have a customised template preventing the buttons from showing up.
Ensure it has $template_hook[postbit_end] at the bottom of the template, above <if condition="$show['profile']">

How can I put the like button in the postbit, instead of having it under the actual post? So if someone doesn't have a like, then there's nothing under the post, however if the post is liked, there will be a post on which user liked it?

Plus, how do I change the postbit so it shows how many likes I have received, nothing else, meaning I don't want it to show how many likes I have given.

The kind of query does, however, and if you have a very large post table then it's possible that mods like these (that intervene with the post table) may cause an increased resource usage.

It's related to look a bit nicer, because you don't need to use an action on that post anymore... i've edited template a bit and if you used an action, the action tr never appears again on that post

Could you try re-importing the XML file? If that doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling. Are you sure you didn't receive any error prior to that one? Some SQL configs have problems installing mods past a certain point due to the max_allowed_packet config variable being too small.

Uhmm... I'll try to find how I can fiddle with that setting, thanks for the tip. Also it seems that the error happens when phrases for the Greek language are being updated. I could try downloading and removing the Greek language, installing your mod and then reuploading the language again but I will have to wait for some idle time in order not to alarm our users.

I can at least tell you it's not a problem with the mod itself, it's vBulletin that handles the creation of phrase groups when importing a product. The process of product importing is 100% vBulletin code (sans my custom table creation code that's ran and completed before the error pops up, that is).

Are you using a custom product manager perchance? If so, you could try temporarily switching back to the default one.

It seems like your template edits to the APTL bar has broken some functionality, as the display in the 3rd image is what happens on an unmodified installation :)

Yeah, if you click Add New Button you can add your own button :)

You can put a .png image in /dbtech/thanks/images/ with a specific name.

For instance, if you enter "recommend" in the "Varname" field, put recommend.png in the folder I just mentioned to have it work in the front-end :)

Hey,
i got some problems with this mod.

I've converted from Abe's [AJAX] Post Thank You Hack
but it didn't convert the "Thanks (Received)", only the "Thanks (Given)"

&

(Pro) Max Postbit Users

I've set that value to 0 so it shows all users, but it still only
shows for example: "8 Member(s) thanked for this post" but not the usernames.

Any way to fix that? :/

Am on vBulletin 3.84 and this is the second Thanks plugin I have installed and once again nothing appears on posts and threads. It's probably site-specific because I'm using the original Thanks plugin on two other sites without problems. But I don't know where to look to find the problem. Any help much appreciated!

Buttons / Hide

Each button can be set as "Default" for Attachments and Content. When posting via Quick Reply, the default button(s) will be set as Required
Notifications can be disabled on a per-button basis
The "thanks bar" in posts displays the number of users who has clicked each button for all areas.
These clicks can be disabled via a vBulletin Option
Email notifications go through an extra (hopefully) invisible redirect to clear its notifications, to ensure users are logged in before viewing their profiles
Button text can be disabled via vBulletin Options

vBulletin 3.84 is logging sql errors, so I have now uninstalled but the same errors are continuing.

How can I ensure the uninstall has been fully completed?

I had this awhile back for vb3.8 and worked fine, however, this time upon downloading and installing it i'm having a problem with the postbit.

I went into dbtech_thanks_postbit like i did before hoping to find the code for the postbit:

- but I can't seem to find it - i'm wanting to make it so that only the given likes show (by adding that code into my skins postbit_legacy template) so it shows Likes: 0

That's only possible in the Pro version ever since we switched to allowing unlimited buttons, as opposed to being stuck with those three :)

Have you configured the Button permissions in the Manage Buttons interface?

Keep in mind you'll need to be Super Admin or grant your account the Can Administer Advanced Post Thanks / Like in order to see the DBTech - Post Thanks menu to access these settings.

No, it sounds like you may have some corrupted XML being returned.

Can you try re-uploading all files? Also, try disabling all other mods to see if there's a conflict :)
