So after uninstallting they closed threads by this tool aren´t closed anymore?
So this doesn´t influence the real database?

Yes. It works at permission level, via hooks.

Does this work on a forum by forum basis? i.e., can it be applied only to designated forums or can certain forums be exempted?

Being able to target forums or sections to apply it to would be an outstanding addition to this.

close topic based on total X replyWhy? If a topic is that popular it seems you should be featuring it, not closing it automatically. Of course, if a long topic starts to drift or get confrontational, it should be closed for those reasons, but then I would expect the moderator to post a reason for the closure.

This mod would be perfect if you could choose the forum sections in which its active. ie for sale sections on busy forums.

simple reason = performance
have you ever had thread with 20.000 replies and only found out server is overloaded just by this kind of thread?

I have somerthing similar. IMHO, that's a point of moderator to cut such threads by volumes - autoclose will confuses users.

well, i've seen private mod with similar function but with extended feature to auto-close a topic after certain number of posts and then make a new topic likely named "xxx Part 2" so the discussions can still continued. probably you've thinking a mod like this?

I would like to announce that I have modified this mod in such a way that it affects only certain user groups. Thus, for instance, one year old threads appear as closed to new members while senior members still may reply. Thanks to Vitaly for his permission.

Hi Vitaly,
thanks for the plugin =)
Is there a way to use the $tac_timeline var from the plugin in a conditional? I'm trying to print something only in old threads, something like <vb:if condition = "$thread['lastpostdate'] > 1095 days> or <vb:if condition = "$thread['creationdate'] > 1095 days> but I'm not finding the right conditionals. So I was thinking if the $tac_timeline could be used in this purpose.

if this mod can be used during TOPIC creation would be even nicer.
for example, topic for a coupon deal, it would be nice to have the topic auto close when coupon deal expires.
cheers

Has anyone else noticed closed threads reopening themselves? We have one that's done it twice now in as many days. I don't see anything about it at vb.com so I'm not sure what else to try short of uninstalling this mod and seeing what happens.

The thread in question just opened itself again, so I think this mod is cleared. Odd though that all my old threads are still closed - from the instructions I thought it said they would all reopen when the mod was uninstalled.

What's the chance to have it auto move to specific forum once they close (archive forum) , great mod overall, seems to work for 4.2
Do threads still countdown to close in 30days regardless of the thread being bumped?..
