Hi all,

I want my website to have similar functionality to Tripadvisor.com. I.e a forum and review based website but with the added function of a 5 star user rating system.

The site will be non-transactional and users have an account and can create reviews for other users to view.
I need the users to be able to add reviews in text and importantly to use a star rating system so that over time a picture/score can be built up about a given subject.

Trip advisor is the closest thing I have seen (this link roughly sums up the functionality I want): http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g293918-d1027555-Reviews-Am_Samui_Palace-Koh_Samui.html

I asked VBulletin pre-sales if the software can do a similar function to trip advisor (user ratings out of 5 stars) and this is what they said: ?Sorry, there is no function to do this. This requires modifying the code. We cannot officially support code modifications or forums running modified code, however you can try searching about this over at the vB mod site: www.vbulletin.org.?

Just wondered if you know where I can start with all this....?! Any help or suggestions you have I'd be really grateful

Thank you!

If you dont mind installing encoded software then I can recommend iReviews from vbcover. It's great software. I would have bought it long ago if it would have been in visible source.
Alternatively you can wait until IB releases the announced reviews CMS content type. It should be released with vb 4.1 or before.

Hello,

I've a Tripadvisor style mod for vB3, but it has so much more features than the ones you asked for. Don't forget that you reffered Tripadvisor.com which is a Travel portal, and this is what my mod is. A 100% Travel Portal. Supports unlimited destinations, ability to list and make reservations for tours, reviews for anything related to tourism market, photo and video uploading and ability other user to rate them, articles and many more. To get an idea, it also has a "dating style" section, (I call it Travelmates), where users post ads to find a partner for a tour (or destination) to share a double room.

We had IReviews but didn't cope very well with VBSEO tbh. found this recently which suited our needs and thought it was very good for a free mod. https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=269808&highlight=reviews
