User's Local Time and Date in Postbit and Profile for vB 4
Version 1.0.0
(By Boofo)
What does this product do?
This product will show the local time and date of users in their posts and profile. That way, you will know what the time and date is where they are located. I use this on my site so I will have an idea if it is the middle of the night, where they are at, or daytime. With your users living in all corners of the globe, this hack is a nice gauge of the different time zones without having to figure out each one in your head.
Note: This will also show the correct time and date of the poster to guests. You do not have to be logged in to know what time it is in someone else's world.
Credits:
Thanks goes out to Andreas for pointing me in the right direction for the profile time and helping to verify the original code. And thanks goes out to Chen Avinadav for making the first local time hack for vB 2 and allowing me to release it for vB 3, vB 3.5, vB 3.7 and now vB 4.

Can someone confirm for sure whether this works with 4.04 or not?
We're upgrading in the next few days and if it doesn't, we'd want to un-install it... ;)
Thanks .. :)

Badger

It works fine with 4.0.4 PL1. The best way to find out is to check it after upgrading.
Griffin80, I would suggest re-downloading it and trying it again as I just re-installed in on 4.0.4 PL1 and got no such error.

Great mod, but the Local Time & Date fields keep duplicating themselves in the postbit several times...

It works fine with the default skin, which is what I use. You have a custom skin I take it?

↑ Right; I presume that I'll need to do some HTML-magic on my custom skin?

It looks like you might have to. What postbit are you using? The legacy?

Yup, the PostBit Legacy; I've been needing to do this for a few other mods too, so it's old news to me. I'm still getting the hang of editing those templates, but I guess that I'll need to put the code for this mod somewhere in the PostBit Legacy template

Look in the xml file and you will see that I use a template hook in the postbit_legacy template. Just look for that hook in the template of the custom skin and see what is going on there.

Great plugin - Thank you.
One problem for a newbie here... I´d like to change the text "Local Time" to "Current Local Time", but have not been able to find anywhere to change it.
Apreciate the help - Thank you.
Edit: Located it in the .xml file, so uninstalled, changed text in .xml and reinstalled again ! Works like a charm - Thank you.

If you see the date and time in the postbit and profile, then it is working. There are no other settings for it.

Hi, this works great in all browsers but Chrome. Is there any way to fix this?

This mod uses the default layout for the postbit. Check it in the default style. It looks like the thanks mod is not allowing it to show right. I don't use the pos Chrome, so I can't help you there.

I know the OP can't answer this, so hopefully someone else can.
Since there are no options for this in Admin CP -> Settings -> Options, is there a way to make it appear only in the postbit or only in user profiles?

Marked as downloaded and installed.
Hopefully another coder, the likes of Boofo, will rise to pick up where he left off. You will be missed my friend.
